Christopher Columbus Tools Page
Christopher Columbus had many tools to help and assist him through his long voyages. To learn about four of the most popular tools that he used during the first voyage please read or listen to the following paragraphs.

The most important tool for Christopher Columbus was a tool called the quadrant. This tool in particular helped Columbus find the North Star. It is very important for sailors to know where the North Star is because he knew that the North Star could bring him close to home and it helped him with his Navigation Skills. That was Christopher Columbus's main tool.

Christopher Columbus also used a tool called the astrolabe, which was also pretty important. The astrolabe helped Columbus find the altitude of all the stars. Unfortunatly this tool broke and Columbus made the desicion to never use it again so it feel to the garbage in useless waste. That is all about Columbus's ex-tool the astrolabe.

Christopher Columbus also used an interesting tool with a cool name called the traverse board. This tool helped Columbus know how fast he was going and how long he had traveled that particular day. Christopher was the first explorer to have a detailed journal otherwise known as a log about how fast he went each day. That is all about Columbus's interesting tool: the traverse board.

Christopher Columbus also had a fourth tool which was called a nocturnal. You have probaly heard of it before. (It means it only comes out at night) Well coincedentally this tool is used to tell when it is night. It also helps find certain stars with its motionless arm. That is Columbus's last but not least tool.
