Christopher Columbus Challenges!
Christopher Columbus faced a lot of challenges while he was trying to get support for his voyages and also when he was out on the sea during his voyages. Christopher Columbus faced lots of challenges that we don't know about. I am here today though to tell you some well known challenges that the famous Christopher Columbus had to face.

Christopher Columbus faced a challenge the day he was born. That challenge was that his whole family was weavers. You may think that this is not important, but it is. This is important because not many people that have unique jobs, like Columbus wanted, liked to hire people that came from a family with only weavers in it's history!  That is a problem because Columbus didn't want to be a weaver, he wanted to be adventurous. Columbus overcame this by finally convincing Queen Isabela and Kind Ferdinand to support him on expeditions to help him become the Explorer that he wanted to be.

Christopher Columbus had a really big problem. When Columbus decided he wanted to Explore he knew that he would need to get support from royalty. That would be a hard task! He asked King John III Of Portugal to support him at first. For whatever reason he refused and would not support him. Later Columbus went to Spain and after being refused twice, once gaining an ammunity he got the support of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabela. That is how Columbus overcame the problem of not having any support.

Christopher Columbus unfortunately had to put up with having his fleet attacked by Pirates. In 1476, as he was sailing for England he got attacked by Pirates just off Portugal. This is very bad because Pirates can be very dangerous and are widely known for thievery. Fortunatly Columbus overcame this problem by swimming ashore. He was then taken refuge in Lisbon.

Christopher Columbus made a very important conclusion that reflected on his whole discovery life. He concluded that Asia could be reached by sailing West. So he sailed West, and did not get the rich land of Asia but the Carribean! Columbus overcame this problem by still being a great explorer and finding lots of new land. So he lost his dream of finding Asia just because of a silly conclusion!

Now you have learned about some challenges that Christopher Columbus unfortunately had to experience. So now you can see that it was not all fun and games for Explorers. I hope you have noticed that Columbus was in a lot of danger over his years. That is all about My Columbus Challenge Page!
