big drunken orgy with lots of prostitutes, right?"
Wishful thinking? Some people can be so persistant about asking
this and so disappointed when they realise that we're serious,
when we give our answer.
No. A short answer, would be to say that I'd really rather not end
up in County Jail, and that would be reason enough. But, there are
other reasons.
Aphrodite is a goddess who, more than anything else, stands for
grace and beauty in life, and the joy they bring. Prostitution,
which we oppose the legalisation of (for other reasons to be
found elsewhere on this web
site), is destructive of passion.
In replacing honest desire with its exploitation for the sake of
greed, it diminishes client and prostitute alike and replaces the
beauty of unpolluted human desire with the ugliness of self
loathing, contempt and predation. In its own strange way, the
acceptance of this institution (and its spread) is far more
puritanical than anything that has ever come out of the religious
right, which at least does embrace the wholesome joy of physical
pleasure between a husband and wife.
So, even if it were legal, I would not abide the presence of
this institution under my roof in any way, shape or form.
Drunken orgy? No. Even if I wanted to clean up the mess and
deal with the drunks, I wouldn't do it.
