Subject: Invading Wiccan Elder Scenario
This one hurts. I have watched it play out between two wiccans. It never crossed my mind that they would do it to someone who isn't even wiccan! With such an easily typecast thought process, there must surely be a way to derail it. I just never applied myself to the problem before.
Our paraphrase begins
The process of group invasion is portrayed as a sort of ongoing conversation. To the observation that there is a new group in town, the elder goes through a sequence of responses, as time passes.
- That's nice, we need more people like us.
- Yes, I heard. Isn't it wonderful ?
- Yes. Let's go pay them a courtesy call, and say hello.
- Oh, yes, they're old friends.
- Yes, but they do things a little differently.
- Yes, I've visited, but they're making mistakes.
- Yes, we've met, and they're fouling up.
- Yes, I know of them, and we'll be dropping by, to help out.
- Yes, I'm going over with my group, and will given them a little guidance.
- Ah, yes, I and my members go there to teach.
- Yes. They are my students. There is so much work to do !
- No, not really. We expanded into a new space.
- Not exactly. When we moved, some of my old students just didn't understand. They formed a break away group. They'll fold, soon.
