The story of Man
God
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God
and the Word was God.... He is the alpha and the omega, the first and the last.
He has no beginning and end. Through him all things were made and without him nothing
was made. John 1: 1-5
Satan
God had created angels as heavenly beings of glory. Lucifer
was once one of the most powerful angels (he is called angel of light) created by God.
Bible describes his old glory and power. When he used to lift his wings, music ensued. But
he was proud and disobeyed God and wanted to exalt himself like God. Hence God punished
him and cast him out and cursed him. Ever since he is an enemy of God trying to put God's
plan to failure. Lucifer is called Satan and the devil. Ezekiel 28: 13-17, Isaih
14:12
The Creation
The Bible says that God created the earth in the beginning.
We do not know when... And it became desolate. Most probably with the fall of Lucifer. For
a long time the earth was void, empty and dark and there was no life on the earth. The
spirit of God was hovering over the face of the deep. Then again God decides to
restore the creation. He restores (make, not create) most of the creation. light, heavens,
the land and sea, plants... But he created the birds, animals and finally he created man in
his own image, male and female. Gen: 1,1-3
Man
God formed man out of the earth and breathed into him the
breath of life. He called him Adam and the woman Eve, was created as a companion to
Adam later on. God created Eve from Adam by taking out a rib from Adam and forming woman
with that as the base. Hence Adam calls woman the bone of my bones and the flesh of my
flesh. God makes sure that everyone is from Adam. God also put Adam and Eve in the
garden of Eden, a good and safe place for them to be. God gave man ruler ship over all
that was on earth. God expressly gave him full freedom except that he should not eat the
fruit of the tree of knowledge in the middle of the garden of Eden. So they had only one
restriction or commandment from God. God used to visit them once a while in the evenings,
and they were living happily in Eden at least for some time. Gen: 1,26-28
Sin of Adam
Eve was approached by the serpent (snake) who talked her into the idea of
eating the fruit of the tree which God had expressly forbidden. She was tempted by saying
that if they ate it they will never die and would become like God. Also they would
know good and evil. She plucked it, ate and gave it to Adam and told him the same story
and he too ate it... Immediately their eyes were opened and they realised their mistake.
They realised they were naked and clothed themselves with leaves and hid from God's sight.
Gen: 3,1-7
God's Judgement
When God knew about this, he seemingly questioned them as to how this
all happened. Adam pointed to his wife, who pointed to the snake. God in his justice
punished Adam and Eve for their disobedience. God cursed Adam saying he will have to toil
for his food and living and he cursed the ground not to yield to him. God cursed Eve
saying she will bear children very painfully and be dependent and ruled by her husband. He
also cursed the snake, and warned him that one day his head will be totally crushed by the
seed of the woman (this was the first hint of a deliverer who would crush Satan).
Gen: 3,8-24.
Thus the happy life of Adam and Eve were turned into an ordinary earthly life of struggle. But God had already had a plan to save the whole creation including man back to him...
Sin and Death
With the disobedience of Adam sin came into the world and with sin
came death, sickness and all miseries. The devil continued to lead man into sinful ways
and cause misery for him. Just as creation was subjected to sin and desolation so was man,
every new being is born in sin and lost to God.
Multiply
The descendants of Adam filled the earth and multiplied. And we have
the story of Noah, Lot and Abraham. God made special commitments and covenants with
Abraham who was called the father of nations. The descendants of Abraham - Isaac,
Jacob - Jacob was called by God as Israel. His twelve sons became the twelve tribes
of Israel beginning with Rueben and ending with Joseph. Israel was God's chosen people
whom he promised to love and tend for ever based on his commitments he made to Abraham,
Isaac and Jacob. God dealt with Israel at various times through kings, judges and
prophets. But the Israelites were mostly disobedient to God. And from time to time God
punished the Israelites by various punishments such as sickness, slavery, defeat and
death. Ref.: Gen, Exodus.
Promise
As God hinted in the garden of Eden, he promised that he would send a
deliverer, a Messiah who would redeem back his people and the creation from its sin. The
sign that was given to them was that a virgin shall conceive and bear a son and who
would save the whole mankind. The Messiah would not only deliver the mankind but rule
over the earth and on the throne of Israel and David...
The Messiah
Jesus Christ the promised Messiah who came and died and rose again
for redeeming the mankind from sin and showing them the way back to God. He completed his
life and mission and did that. But not all have understood this and accepted their
salvation... Besides the Israel has not been restored back to God and all the earth
brought under the rule of Christ. This is exactly what God plans to do now... Read future events to come for more details.
Well let me put into nutshell all that happened. God chose to create Man and wanted Man to spend eternity with God. God also gave man a companion - the Woman was created from man. The first man was ADAM and the woman was named EVE by Adam. But the devil makes man disobey God's word and commit sin (disobedience). The holy perfect God can not tolerate sin, hence God punishes man, the woman and the devil. But for man he has already laid out a redemption plan - by Jesus Christ. Man is cast to a mere mortal state and man has been multiplying ever since.
