Jesus Christ the Saviour of the World
It is impossible to write a few points and prove to you that Jesus Christ is your Saviour. This is a brief account of His life stated objectively that you may HEAR ABOUT HIM. It is up to you to further read, understand and believe in Him. Only God can give you the faith for that.
Birth of Jesus
God sent angel Gabriel to a virgin named Mary in Nazareth of Galilee, who was engaged to a
man called Joseph. The angel appeared and told her that she will conceive and bear a
son by the work of the Holy spirit and power of the almighty God, that he shall be called
'Immanuel' (God with us) and that he will deliver the mankind from their sins. That he
shall be called the son of the Most High, that he shall inherit the throne of his ancestor
king David and that he shall rule forever. Angle also told her that her cousin Elizabeth
who was childless was six months pregnant (the child turned out to be none other than John
the Baptist). Mary humbled to God's will.
Mary and her husband had to make a trip to Bethlehem to participate in the census and go to Bethlehem the city of their ancestor king David. There Jesus was born in a manger outside the city. Hence the prophecy that he would be born in Bethlehem was fulfilled.
He had an earthly mother but he was not of an earthly father. His lineage through Mary was to king David because the promised Messiah was to be from the house of David in the tribe of Judah. He was also hence a descendant of Abraham the father of nations. God had promised Abraham that he would bless all nations through his seed. When he was born he fulfilled all the prophecies concerning his miraculous birth. He would live in Nazareth in Galilee and be known as a Nazarene.
Life of Jesus
When he was twelve years old he astounded the religious and the learned of the time by his
knowledge in the scriptures and regarding the things of God. He began his ministry when he
was thirty, until which he led a quiet life, working as a carpenter as his foster father
Joseph.
Baptism of Jesus
John the Baptist a prophet who came ahead of the Messiah to prepare the path before him
was already preaching that 'God's kingdom is at hand, repent and be baptised, the Messiah
is coming who would baptise you with fire and Holy Spirit. He baptised everyone with water.
So at the age of 30, Jesus went to Johan and was baptised by him. When Jesus was baptised, the heaven was opened and God publicly declared him to be his only son and the Holy spirit descended on him in the form of a dove. He was also declared by John the Baptist as the 'lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world'. And thus John the Baptist confirmed to the world that Jesus was the Messiah.
Public life of Jesus
Jesus began his ministry by teaching and healing people. His teaching was
revolutionary and totally new. He was kind to the poor, the sick, the needy, the sinners.
But he shook those in authority and religious positions for their hypocrisy and low moral
life and condemned the unjust without fear or doubt. Due to is teachings, his popularity
and his miracles, he angered the religious leaders of Jews who wanted to kill him,
just like they had done with other prophets of God.
Miracles of Jesus
The miracles done by Jesus has never been recorded before or after and supported his claim
as the 'one from above' sent by the Father. He displayed his authority over everything
that was on earth. The people of his own time acknowledged his miracles and called him a
mighty prophet and also the Messiah.
Authority of Jesus
He never bothered about political or religious authorities of the time. He said his
authority was from heaven and was above the earthly authority. He publicly released
sinners from their bondage of sin and forgave them with authority and admitted sinners to
God's kingdom. These people experienced relief from physical, mental and spiritual
bondage. He challenged the knowledge of the wise and learned men, men of law and
religiousness and proved them wrong in their belief as well as practice.
Teachings of Jesus
He seemingly taught about things above and things below. But everything that he taught was
about living a life pleasing to God on earth looking towards heaven. He had nothing to
teach about being worldly smart. For he was not of this world, nor would those who follow
him. World was a temporary place, he had heavenly places and eternity for his followers.
He taught against hypocrisy, religiousness. He pointed the way to his Father. He taught
never heard of commandments like love, forgiveness, mercy.
Claims and prophecies of Jesus
Jesus declared that he was the Son of God and that he was the truth and the path to
eternal life. No one can reach God without him he said. He claimed that he came from God
and was going back to God. He said he would take his followers as well to his father's
house. He promised that he would come again to judge and rule the world. He assured
that whoever had seen him or known him had seen the Father and vice versa. He claimed that
he was sinless and nobody could challenge him or prove him wrong in anything. He claimed
that he had authority over this world and the next, above everything. Most of these claims
were beyond the comprehension of the religious or political authorities who could not
grasp what he said for their hearts were hard.
Crucifixion and Death
As he had irritated the then religious leaders, they plotted against him with the Roman
authorities who were ruling Israel at that time. They were afraid that people would accept
him as the Messiah and that they would lose all their positions. They brought false
charges against him and handed him over to authority. He was condemned to be crucified for
no obvious reason. The authorities made this very clear and tried to save him but was
insisted by the Jewish religious authorities that he should die.
His death was unique in history. On the cross too he forgave others. He said everything is complete and he died. While he was on the cross, there was darkness everywhere for about three hours. The natural powers were unleashed, there were earthquakes and storms. The heavy and very thick veil in the holy Jerusalem temple was torn in two symbolising the opening of the direct access to God for man. He died by committing his spirit in to God's hands. He was certified to be dead by the Roman soldiers.
Did Jesus have to die?
No one in history had died such a painful and menial death for no obvious reason, as
Jesus. Why did he do that? Some think it was not fitting Jesus. NO. His very life on earth
had only one purpose to DIE ON THE CROSS AS A BLAMELESS SACRIFICIAL ANIMAL TO REDEEM THE
MANKIND WITH HIS HOLY BLOOD. AND HE DID IT BECAUSE HE LOVED THE MANKIND TO THE POINT OF
COMING DOWN TO DIE IN SUCH A LOWLY MANNER.
Through his death he overcame death and won the ultimate victory over Satan. The head of Satan was crushed for ever as promised by God. The keys of death and Hades were won back from him and is now with Jesus. And how does that help us? Through his death and resurrection those who believe in Christ have the same victory over sin, death and Satan. And most importantly we have eternal life through Him.
Resurrection of Jesus
He was buried in a newly dug tomb and it was sealed and guarded heavily by Roman soldiers
because Jesus had said he would rise on the third day. And He ROSE AGAIN ON THE THIRD DAY.
He appeared to his disciples and the women who were his followers after his death.
He was touched by his disciples who could not believe that he was alive. He promised that
he would be on earth till the end of the world. He had told them earlier that he will come
again. He promised to send them the 'comforter' the Holy spirit. He was with them for
about 40 days. After advising them of many things and asking them to baptise everyone in
the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy ghost, he rose up to heaven
being watched by at least 72 disciples. His resurrection and his coming back was
confirmed by two angels who said he would come back just the way he went up.
Kingdom of God
Jesus had asked the disciples to wait for the power from high. On the Pentecost day while
the disciples were praying together, the Holy spirit came upon them in tongues of fire and
they started preaching and prophesying in the name of Jesus Christ to the Jews who had
gathered for the festival. Surprisingly they heard them in their own native languages. Who
ever believed in Christ were baptised and they were 3000 in number that day. This was the
beginning of the building of Christ's body and the first admission to God's kingdom.
Jesus the Son of God
Jesus was unique in the history of mankind. His birth was unique. His life was unique. His
death was unique. His mighty works showed his holy origin. He taught as no one ever
taught. His authority was undisputed and binding over all. He claimed to be God's son, the
only path to salvation, the only truth. He preached about heavenly things and taught about
his Father in heaven. He asked everyone to repent and turn to God, through him. He taught
about love, mercy, compassion, kindness and healing. He always did the will of his father.
He forgave sins and released people from bondage and sickness.
No one could ever find a fault with him. No one could prove him wrong. No one was able to challenge him in any way. The only time he was when he allowed himself to be caught, persecuted and put to death on the cross. Even while being interrogated he told them clearly that if he did not allow them to do so, they could do nothing for he was the Son of God. He constantly prayed to his Father and always tried to do his Father's will. He taught others to pray.
He is unique in after-death. He lives even today. No one has ever influenced history or influenced the world as much as Jesus Christ. His power and influence continues unabated and results in people turning to the true God every day. Even today he works miracles in the world and in the hearts of men.
There were mighty and intelligent men who tried to prove that he was a fairy tale and when they tried to prove it they could not because Jesus Christ is not a fairy tale but a living God and they ended up accepting him as their Saviour.
Jesus Christ the Messiah
Jesus was the promised Messiah who came to save the world from its sin and bondage and
give eternal life through his own death on the cross. He was a Son of God and Son of Man.
Yet he was sinless, due to his divine nature. He changed the history of the world and he
keeps changing the lives of millions even today. He said that even the gates of hell can
not stand against his church and it has proved true. Even in the future it will hold true.
As per the law of the land and the region, truth was upheld by witnesses. There were numerous witnesses to his public life besides his followers and disciples. His life has been documented and historical proofs are available about his life. Some of the Gospel writers who did not actually meet Jesus during his life time knew about him by conducting research and obtaining proof. The books of the New Testament (after Christ) are supported by proper manuscripts which have been validated.
Jesus Christ was the promised Messiah. He lives today in glorious victory, and intercedes for us at the right hand of his father. He has promised I would be with you till the end of the world. He said that he would send the Holy Spirit to guide and teach you and to seal you as sons of God. That is also being continued today.
Dear friend,
You have heard about Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of Man who walked on earth 2000 years ago and changed the lives of millions. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. God loves you and wants you to come to Him through His Son through whom he opened the path wide for you to come in. So please take the time to think of accepting him as your Saviour and Lord and say good bye to sin and worldly life. Jesus said, Behold I stand at the door and knock, who ever opens the door, I will come in and have supper with him. So If you hear his voice today, harden not your heart... Come to Jesus Christ and to eternal life.
