Who Are the ChristMus Sisters?
The ChristMus Sisters are a group of women from Bloomington, Indiana, brought together by tragic circumstances, who through that tragedy discovered Sisters & Friends they never knew they had.

On Friday, September 14, 2001, a small group of non-Muslim women, concerned about recent attacks against Muslims both in their own city and throughout the U.S., visited the Islamic Center in Bloomington as a sign of their support and concern for their Muslim sisters.  They received a sincere and open welcome.  The Muslim women had been forced to remain in their homes, unable to lead their daily lives for fear of their safety.  They were pleased and relieved to learn that they had friends in the larger community who were willing to stand by them.

As a gesture of friendship, the non-Muslim ladies made an unusual proposal; on Tuesday of the following week, they--like many of the Muslim ladies--would wear the hijab (or headscarf) while in public, to show their respect for their Muslim sisters, as well as their rejection of racism and hatred.  In return, the Muslims sisters offered their own show of goodwill by attending Sunday Morning services at the Bloomington First Assembly of God.  Upon that foundation of care and concern would be built an abiding friendship between Christian and Muslim in Bloomington.
