Daniel stood in the
silent underground tunnel, looking down at the sheet-covered
lump on the floor. The Goa'uld was dead, the brainwashed boys
and girls had been rescued and reunited with their parents,
and the SGC had confiscated all the heavy ordinance and
destroyed all evidence of alien presence. Seth would destroy
no more lives, whether directly or indirectly.
He
pulled the sheet off the body, revealing the face, eyes still
open and staring at the tunnel's ceiling. It only took a
moment to remember the face how he'd last seen it at age
eight. There had been no beard then. The eyes had been hidden
behind glasses.
"I don't know how this happened," he
told the body, "but I'm glad you aren't suffering under his
control anymore. I only wish I'd known
sooner."
Covering it back up, a son walked away from
the shell of his father.
