
Daniel was usually good at finding something to do, even in situations of extreme boredom. For the first few years, he browsed the Asgard knowledgebase almost every day, seeking out their history and language for study. Eventually, even the allure of the knowledgebase lost its shine, and for the first time in his memory, he found that he was drifting, without a purpose, no goal to work towards and nothing new to do. He felt like he was dragging his feet, all the spring gone from his step, no exciting new discovery on the horizon, not now or ever again.
As he lay awake, Vala's gentle breath tickling his neck, he stared at the ceiling and wondered if he would ever be useful again.
