had been hounding him to stay off his feet for the past few
days, but he couldn't. No chance of relaxation and
recuperation until his team was home. For hours, he sat in the
control room and watched silently as they attempted to set up
the second Gate. Time after time, they failed to dial
out.
"Daniel." The General's voice was quiet, and the
touch on his shoulder was light. "There's nothing you can do,
son. Go home and rest."
"I can't," he whispered, gaze
locked on the stubborn alien ring. He prayed they would make
it home alive.
