"Santa Claus is coming to town"
Not quite yet, but the Christmas in Rome Parade Committee of volunteers, under the sponsorship of the City of Rome, is already busy at work planning this year's parade.� Our goal is to create a wonderful memory for those children and adults who view, as well as participate in, the parade.� This tradition, which was begun so many years ago in our hometown, continues today as one of our favorite events during the year.� Please read all of the guidelines below to make sure our parade is both special and safe.
Date of Parade:�� Tuesday, December 2nd at 6:30 PM (Rain Date:� Dec 4th)
Rules and Regulations
Every entry must depict the theme of the parade through decorations and dress of the participants.
This year's theme will be A Family Christmas.
Music must be Christmas music.
No candy or materials may be handed out during the parade by entries or walkers.
Motorcycles, bikes and all vehicles must observe safe conduct before and during the Parade.
Bands, drill teams and marching units will not be allowed to perform routines that would stop or delay the parade.
Due to the increased length of the parade, no car clubs will be allowed entry. Individual who wish who drive their antique cars in the parade must register as a separate unit. Only cars made prior to 1960  may be registered as an  antique.
Horses will not be allowed in the parade unless they are wearing diapers.
No live impersonation of Santa Claus will be permitted.� No live depictions of Christ on the Cross will
be permitted.
All entries must be approved by the Parade committee.
All applications must be mailed to the committee by November 10th .� A late fee of $50 must accompany applications after this date.
Judging: All units who wish to be judged must be in place by 5:30. (All other units MUST be in place by
6:00PM.) All  judging takes place before the parade begins. An identical entry cannot win two years in a row. Judging will be  based on consideration of theme, eye appeal, participants and costumes.
Fee:� Due to increased costs in managing the parade, the parade committee has voted unanimously to
charge a  fee of $25 per entry which must be submitted with the application.� No application will be
processed unless  accompanied by the $25 fee.�Applications must be
mailed to the address on application. (School bands are exempt from the application fee)�.
NEW THIS YEAR:� All entries must be at the parade route by 6:00  PM regardless of whether they are   being judged.�  Entries arriving after 6:00 PM may be placed at the end of the route.
