Question
#1. “What exactly is “New Thought”?
Answer: The New
Thought movement—NOT to be confused the New
Age
Movement—is a more than century old, practical, oriented
Spirituality, that promotes fullness
of all aspects of living, through
constructive (positive) thinking,
meditating, and other ways of
realizing the presence of God.
New Thought
is the practice of the presence of God. A Faith that is,
concerned for the individual (in healing, prayers etc.), and all mankind.
Question #2.
“How does a dictionary define “New Thought?”
Answer: The Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary (of
the 1930’s),
reads
as follows: “New Thought:”: Any form of modern belief in and
practice of,
‘mental healing’, other than those associated with
“traditional” Christianity, such as accepted forms of “hypnotism and
psychotherapy.
Question #3. “Do people in the “New Thought” movement, believe
that
they are individual “gods”, like the New Age Movement teaches?
Answer:
Again, NO. New Thought believes that God exists in all
living things (and some say non-living
things). The God of New
Thought is
“Omnipresent” (EVERYWHERE present), this is VERY
important to understand. If you can’t understand God’s Omnipresence,
you will have some
difficulty understanding New Thought.
Question
#4.“Is “New Thought” some sort of “Pop Psychology?”
Answer: Not at all. New Thought addresses ALL ailments, including
mental emotional, and physical unbalances. We use
affirmative prayers
and Scriptures. Some in the New Thought
movement,
deny sickness, but accept the “wholeness,” that is our
divine right.
Question #5. Do all “New Thought” groups
teach the same doctrines?”
Answer: No. There is no “one Creed” for the Movement,
but has
a close relationship to the idealistic
philosophical teachings of
all ages, as well as a foothold in the teachings of the
Bible.
It is a “Practical”
form of Christianity, concerned for the individual
(in
healing, prayers etc.), using the application of Scripture knowledge.
