Jesus Christ freely gave his life as his Daddy's perfect and final passover lamb. In Exodus 12:1-20, God gave the first instructions concerning the passover to Moses and all of Israel. On a specified day they were commanded to take a male lamb out from among the sheep or the goats. The lamb was to be without blemish. On the fourteenth day of the first month they were to kill the lamb in the evening before sunset. It should be noted that the 24-hour period lasted from sunset to sunset. Next they were to strike the blood of the lamb on the upper doorpost of the houses, and eat the roasted meat of the lamb that same evening. Verse 11 says, "...it is your Lord's passover." All of Israel did as Moses commanded them according to God's word and their firstborn were passed over by the same plague that so devastated those of the Egyptians. According to 1Corinthians 5:7 Jesus Christ's death was our passover who was sacrificed for us.
The spilling of Jesus Christ's blood was God's purchased price for all of mankind as seen in Acts 20:28, "Take heed...to feed the church of God, which He has purchased with His own blood." God is spirit and does not have blood. But the life that he gave to his son Jesus Christ was in his blood. In essence Jesus' blood came from his Daddy who gave him life in the womb of Mary. This is why it could be figuratively said that Jesus' blood was his Daddy's blood. Who did God purchase us from? "Who rescued us out from within the power of the darkness, and transferred us to the Kingdom by His dear son. In whom we have redemption, even the forgiveness of sins." (Colossians 1:13-14). The power of the darkness figuratively refers to the power that satan has over all of mankind. That is the power of death. See also Hebrews 2:14, "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also him self likewise took part of the same. That through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil." Jesus Christ had the same body as all other men. Yet his blood was different from all other people in that it was incorruptible and without death. As seen in Romans chapter 5, since the fall of Adam, death reigned over all of mankind. But now by the righteousness of Jesus Christ, the free gift of righteousness became available for all people unto eternal life.
God knows that all people are born with sin nature genetically bound in their blood. He gave the life of His beloved son Jesus Christ, so that anybody can now step into His perfect condition of forgiveness. This is about being baptized and cleansed from the inside out not by earthly water, but by God's holy spirit. Jesus Christ said, "For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the holy ghost not many days hence." (Acts 1:5). This perfect condition of cleansing by the blood of Jesus Christ was not available during the Old Testament period until the day of Pentecost as recorded in Acts 2:1-4 when holy spirit was first poured out. According to verse 4 they were filled with holy spirit. Being filled with holy spirit, they were in essence made righteous and cleansed. As seen in Romans 10:9-10, the reason they were filled with holy spirit is because they were believing with their hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead. It's that simple.
Once filled with holy spirit, we become God's saints. As it says, "And such were some of you, but you are washed. But you are sanctified...by the spirit of our God." (1Corinthians 6:11).
