| The relationship between God and Jesus Christ by Timothy W. Burnett |

| As we continue to spiritually grow, it is of utmost importance that we have an accurate understanding of how we are related to God in heaven and what kind of fellowship relationship is available with God.
The same is true for our earthly lives. From birth we are taught who our authoritative and/or paternal parents are and how to interact with them. This is an essential identity issue that has been addressed by social psychologists. Gods word is the only true source for understanding our relationship with Him. In order to get a clear understanding, it is important to set aside our personal long standing beliefs and for a little while let Gods word interpret itself. After Adams disobedience, all of mankind was caught off from God who made him. Throughout the Old Testament scripture we can see that God communicated with his people through certain people of His choosing. We also see that he heard the cries of the people as a whole. Before Adams disobedience, open communication existed between him and God. Thats because he had holy spirit in him, which is the meaning of God making Adam in His own image. God is spirit. The condition of mankind changed after Adam sinned against God. Mankind fell under the bondage of sin nature and death. But God gave a promise of hope in Genesis 3:15, I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. It shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel. This scripture is talking about Jesus Christ and the devil. The word seed literally referred to the genetic line that would eventually lead to the woman who would give birth to the Messiah. It was used figuratively for the Messiah who was actually conceived by God. The rest of the Old Testament scripture holds the beautiful red thread of events and prophecies related to the hope of the Messiah from God. It passed through Isaac and then his son Jacob who was renamed Israel. According to Genesis 49:8-12, the promised seed would pass through Israels son Judah. The promised seed passed through many generations of Gods people. Then, God in heaven conceived the Messiah in Mary (see Luke 1:26-38). Please note that Jesus genetic make-up would have come only from his mother. This is because the seed from his Father did not carry genetic information. There was one exception, which was that Jesus genetic make-up lacked the corruptible nature that exists in the blood of all other people. Since his life came from God, Jesus was not genetically bound by the threat of eventual death (see also Hebrews 2:14-15). It is important to understand that God did not break any rules of pure genetics and conception. The only difference was that the life-giving seed did not come from a man, but instead came from God in heaven. After conception, Jesus began to develop like any other person, inside the womb of a woman. Jesus was eventually born like any other person. Jesus grew and was faithfully taught and reared by his mother and step father Joseph. To prevent any confusion about this, all four Gospel records reveal an event in which Gods word was given from the heavens (sky) where He said, This is My beloved son, in whom I am well pleased (Matthew 3:17; Mark 1:11; Luke 3:22; John 1:32-34). God made it so perfectly plain and simple. |
