THE SNAKE THE CROSS THE CROWN

Well hailing from Santa Barbara California this emotional driven rock band has currently been in the studio recording their new EP LIKE A MOTH BEFORE A FLAME which is a compile of six amazing songs. Each track is this unique way of entwining their soft felt lyrics with their melodic and slow paced guitar parts to master the sound of TSTCTC. We have only begun to hear from this band and soon they will be fluttering the airwaves so make sure to check them out.

CHRISTINA: What is your guys name age and respective instruments?
TSTCTC: Franklin 21 Guitar
Kevin 21 Guitar and Vocals
Carl 22 Vocals and Bass
William 19 Keys, Programming
Mark 22 Drums

CHRISTINA: How did you guys become a band?
TSTCTC: SCC was formed when our previous band decided it was time to start over. We moved out to California, changed our name, and started from scratch musically. However, SCC as it is, was not fully completed until Mark joined us on drums last May.

CHRISTINA: Since you guys moved out to California how has that transition been? And do you like it?
TSTCTC: The transition has been slow, but good. It took us a while to get things rolling last year. The song writing process took a while, and we didnt actually play a show until we had been here for almost six months. However, I think it is safe to say we all like it better out here than Alabama, although the expenses make it harder on some more than others.

CHRISTINA: How does the band go about writing a song?
TSTCTC: Usually someone would bring in a rough sketch of a song. Sometimes these sketches would be nearly completed, sometimes they would be a bunch of different parts that had yet to be fit together, and sometimes they would just be a basic idea. So everyone would learn these basic ideas and then contribute their own input on what the song should be like. A couple of the songs on the EP were completely broken apart, then reconstructed to a much better result.

CHRISTINA: and lyrically how are they written and where do they stem from?
TSTCTC: When we write songs we are just honest, with ourselves and how we feel at the time. All of the songs are lyrically personal. Nothing too abstract or deeply metaphoric. Just things we experienced or felt put to music.

CHRISTINA: what has been your bands biggest obstacle?
TSTCTC: Because the band requires everyones absolute commitment, I think the biggest obstacle is getting five individuals to give up pretty much any type of life outside the band. All of us had or still have other interests and commitments, but we have all decided to make the band our first priority, and that is an obstacle we have overcome and will have to continue to overcome.

CHRISTINA: who influences you guys to create music? other song writers, family friends etc...
TSTCTC: All creative, innovative, and expressive music is inspiring.

CHRISTINA: I know that you guys are currently not signed is there any labels that are intrested that you are thinking about signing with?
TSTCTC: We have had some interest, but I dont think it would be appropriate to mention any names at this point. Sorry.

CHRISTINA: what is worth more to you the actual experience or the memory that remains when the experience is over?
TSTCTC: I think its hard to say one is better than the other. Obviously, you would assume that the experience is probably better than the memory since at one point in time it is a real, tangible thing. However, after that period of time is over, the memory is all you are you left with, and to me, is equally as important.

CHRISTINA: top five CDs to date? As of recent?
TSTCTC: As of Recent:
1.Radiohead-Kid A,
2.Radiohead Ok Computer,
3.Wilco Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
4.The Mars Volta De-loused in the Comatorium
5.The Beatles - Revolver

CHRISTINA: I know that you guys have done a couple of tours how was that? And I know there is one coming up what do you guys want out of that?
TSTCTC: Our past tours have been educational. I think that would be the best way to describe them. Every tour is fun and at the same time excruciatingly boring, both productive and musically stagnant. Its interesting because you have to settle into two separate lifestyles. On the road and off. All we hope for when we go on tour is to have a good time, play our best, and not lose too much money.

CHRISTINA: if you could give me any advice what would it be?
TSTCTC: If you ever live with other musicians, write your name on your condiments.
