FAIRWELL MADISON

This band is based out of Nor Cal. They have a more indie rock Taking Back Sunday but with a mix of Thursday feel. I have been into them for awhile now after meeting the bass player Matt I soon became a fan. FM is a very hard working band and hopefull their hard work wil pay off soon. They are currently not signed to any labels but are looking to get signed. FM is made of great guys with nice hair and thats all that matters.FAIRWELL MADISON Web or listen to them at FAIRWELL MADISON Audio

CHRISTINA: Name ages and respective insturments?
FAIRWELL MADISON: Adam Serpa(19)- vocals
Collin Robillard(19)- guitar
Daniel Petersen(18)- guitar
Gregory Petersen(17)- drums
Matthew Davis(19)- bass

CHRISTINA: Tell me how you became FM?
FAIRWELL MADISON: 4/5 of the band members (everyone except Adam) took lessons from a man named Tim Quinn. Tim knew that all of us were looking to start a band and kind of connected us together. Collin called Dan and they set up a date to jam. Soon we started writing some tunes but no singer. Collin knew Adam from his high school guitar class and remembered making him sing Weezer songs because he had a good voice. Soon he came to the practice, and even though we all thought he was a giant goofball, we initiated him into the band by making him run with marshmellows in his butt from one end of a football field to the other. if he let one drop...you know what happens! But he made it.

CHRISTINA: How do you guys go about writing songs?
FAIRWELL MADISON: Basically, Greg writes all of the songs on a Casio keyboard and brings them in. After that, we all add our own flavor to the song. Greg kind of directs what he wants out of it and coaches Adam through the vocals. No we're just kidding sometimes we write them as a whole band or sometimes someone brings in a cool riff. We usually just fuck around on a song until we start getting a structure for it down. Its a fun process but sometimes we have to get naked and waxed up to get the emotion out of it. :)

CHRISTINA: And the lyrics where do they stem from?
FAIRWELL MADISON: All sorts of things. Girls. Anorexia. The vast left wing Conspiracy. There are two things that I try to do with my lyrics. 1) Bring to light some subject that people should be aware of. or 2) Try to explain to the world, who exactly I am, how I think, and what my existence is all about using only words.

CHRISTINA: Tell me one thing about FM as a band or indivisually that no one else knows?
FAIRWELL MADISON: We like to build forts and wrestle (naked) in hotel rooms in reno 'cause there is nothing else to do there. Dan runs his own studio out of his house (Mountain View Studios) and is an avid 49er fan, Collin gives/gets guitar lessons, Matt is addicted to rockstar drinks and cigarettes, Adam plays nerf war with nerf guns, and Greg has A.D.D. Not really, but we somewhat believe it. he also loves his car too much.

CHRISTINA: I know that you guys are very known in the Nor cal scene. Do you plan on breaking out of that soon is their anything that you guys are planing on doing to build up your fan base?
FAIRWELL MADISON: I know that we are now trying to play more shows out of the area. We are currently trying to not play shows in our home area, because we feel that we cant really do much more here, so look for us playing more shows in Southern California and more out of state. We really need to get out more and get our music out to more people. We really need to build a stronger fan base out of our home region. So we are currently going to strive to get out there more and constantly tour and play shows.

CHRISTINA: I know that you guys recently recorded your three song demo and it seems to have that FM taste but its a little bitter any reason for that? The change in style?
FAIRWELL MADISON: We're contanstly writing music and maturing musically. We feel like now when we write, we are writing songs that better fit us and our style. Its just that our first cd/lp our first 14 songs we ever wrote as a band. We have different influences these days and our music kind of progresses with that. We are just expanding our sound in a way we feel comfortable playing it. Also I think we have grown tighter as a band.

CHRISTINA: If you were any car what would it be and why?
FAIRWELL MADISON: VW Jetta VR6 A "HONDA EATER!" You see Greg is a huge fan of his own "Honda eater" his VW Jetta VR6. So that is why we would be a Jetta VR6. If you saw him take care of that baby like he does, you'd wish you were a Honda eater too. He sexes that baby up! yeah!

CHRISTINA: What is the one thing about your live show that you guys strive on?
FAIRWELL MADISON: We really strive to create a good atmosphere we like the kids to have fun at our shows. Also we strive to make our live sound tight and well adjusted. We like to rock out. We like to have fun, play well, and rock'n'roll. that is all.

CHRISTINA: Who influences you guys?
FAIRWELL MADISON: Many, Many, Many different bands, fans, friends, family, girlfriends, each other.

CHRISTINA: What is the greatest part about being in a band?
FAIRWELL MADISON: Creating something new that no ones ever heard. We are'nt saying our style is completely unique. But, we strive to create our own music. We like to offer something new to the people that attend our shows to listen to our music. Also, we all love playing shows, meeting new people, hanging out, traveling and eating In & Out. (Oh yeah, and making forts and wrestling in hotel rooms.) Being in a band gives you the opportunity to meet people you would never have met or talked to. We have already met so many people and we're just starting out. We have a shitload of friends and oppurtunites just because of this.

CHRISTINA: If you could give me any advice what would it be and why?
FAIRWELL MADISON: Look both ways before crossing the street. And dont smell old milk. You already know it smells bad so why do you need to smell it? Also, just do what you like and have fun. We suggest that everyone get involved musically in their communities.

CHRISTINA: Is their anything else I left out that you would like to add?
