The Busload Adventure
November 2003
Just before Thanksgiving of 2003 we found out that we were expecting, it was so hard to keep a secret but we did.
The first three months were not the greatest for Chrissy.  She experience nausea (queasiness) all day long and did not have the energy to do much.
December 2003
One week before Christmas of 2003 we went in to have an ultrasound done and we were told "there is one heartbeat, there is the second, and there is the third."  That is how we found out we were expecting the "busload."

On the way to Chrissy's parents for Christmas Matt asked me if the "busload" was ready.  Since then Chrissy and the triplets have been referred to as the busload.
March 2004
In March 2004 we went in for our first level 2 ultrasound to find out eh babies estimated sizes.  The first thing we found out was that the busload were all boys!  The sizes were fairly close in size which was good news.
Baby Boy A was 12oz
Baby Boy B was 12oz
Baby Boy C was 14oz
All three boys were healthy.  The doctor did see a cyst on Baby C's brain but she said there really isn't too much to worry about and it should go away.

Chrissy continued working until the end of March when the doctors told her she was to be on modified bedrest.
April 2004
4/8/04
Our 24 week appointment just happened to be on our anniversary (April 8).  Chrissy had an ultrasound to check the length of her cervix.  The doctor checked once and it was over 3cm. The second time he checked Chrissy had a contraction and her cervix funneled.  The doctor ordered us upstairs to the hospital to be monitored.  They hooked up monitors and an IV to Chrissy to monitor the contractions.  They also started a magnesium sulfate drip which is common for preterm labor contractions.  Well Chrissy did not react well at all to this medication and was up all night gasping for air - one side effect of the medication - may cause respiratory difficulties.  They finnally took her off the mag and within a few minutes she was knocked out from an anxiety pill they had given her during the night to help her sleep.  After 2 days of being on teh labor and delivery floor they decided that Chrissy was stable enough to be moved down to "station 54" which is just an anti-pardom floor for those that are stable enough but need care before birth.  She spent another 6 days on that floor until they stabilized the contractions with a terbutaline pump that automatically pumps medication into her leg at set intervals.  On Friday April 16 Chrissy finally got to come home with the terbutaline pump and a uterine monitor to monitor contractions at least twice a day!  Since this episode she has been on strict bedrest with just bathroom breaks and shower breaks (the bathroom breaks are very frequent).

Our next appointment was on April 23.  Chrissy was worried about going back into the hospital.  At this apppointment we had another level 2 ultrasound done and the boys still looked healthy
Baby Boy A was 1lb 11oz
Baby Boy B was 1lb 12oz
Baby Boy C was 1lb 14oz
Chrissy as given another two weeks at home on strict bedrest and continued her terbutaline pump and her uterine monitoring at least twice a day for contractions.
