It was a beautiful fall day. The sun was beating down on chilled sidewalks and reflecting back in Keras eyes. She twirled her backpack around and pulled out her sunglasses and a piece of gum. She was waiting for matt they were supposed to meet in the park at noon but he was running a little late as usual. She put her pack on the bench and pulled out a book she had been reading for days.

She was wearing some pretty brown cords and a brown leather jacket. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail. And she was wearing a brownish lipstick. Her lilac perfume wafted up her nose and made her sneeze. She sat for about 10 minutes pretending to read and watching orange and red leaves dance careless waltzes around a light pole.

Matt ran in from the parking lot. He had his back pack around his shoulders. She gave a coy smile as he approached. I know, Im late, he said I am sorry I just got so caught up It is ok dont worry about it she said wrapping her arm around his waist and pecking him on the lips.

I brought some lunch if you want it she said while they were watching little furry caterpillars crawl across the sidewalk. Sure, he said. She pulled a sheet out of her pack and a little cooler with sandwich meats and pie slices.

That sat under the tree and ate the lunch quietly as he leaned against the tree and Kera rubbed his thigh. They were sharing a bottle of water and watching lovers walk by. She started getting cold and Matt wrapped his jacket around her.

He leaned in close to her ear, I just cant help but wonder what it is I did to deserve this, he said softly. She leaned back remembering when she first met him. He smelled like soap and jeans. His hair was disheveled and she had thought about how fine he looked when the sun hit his eyes. She kissed him then thinking that he wasnt real, but rather some tangent she had went on in some long deserted dream.

He ran his hand along her waist under his coat. She leaned into his neck to smell him. Her eyelids danced as she thought about how intoxicating he was at that moment. Kera was no stranger to men, she knew them the way most women did. She knew they were obnoxious and bawdy, she knew there were few that actually cared about anything other than her ass and her tits. Somehow this one was different. He was intoxicatingly honest. He was sweet in ways that few men are.

She thought that if this did not last a lifetime, at least she was there in the moment. At least she knew that the possibility existed for dreams and hope.

She ran her hand up his thigh. He breathed in a heavier rhythm. She ran her hand across his face, I want you to promise me that you will always be this person, I want you to promise me you will never be jaded or corrupt. I want you to promise that you will always be true to yourself. I promise. He whispered in her ear. She watched the leaves dance and wondered how long it would be till winter came.
