About Alyssa? hmmm...well, the picture kind of sums it up! Yes, she is our most busy, outgoing, mischievious one!! When I got pregnant with her, it was very exciting, because we were trying for our second baby! I wanted this pregnancy to be different...I wanted to be awake for the delivery, and wanted a natural birth..So, we really wanted to try for a VBAC, so it was VERY important to have a smaller baby..So, after formally being diagnosed with "borderline gestational Diabetes" I knew how important blood sugars were..So, I began testing my blood sugar on a regular basis, and maintained a diabetic diet as well. As it turned out, the last ultrsound showed that she was still a |

| bit too big to safely have a VBAC...So, a scheduled C-section was arranged for Sept. 15, 1997 at 8am....My doctor knew how important it was for me to be awake this time around, so she specifically arranged to have the best anesthiologist in the hospital administer my spinal. And it was very effective!! It was soooo weird having my whole lower half totally paralyzed!! I didn't like the feeling at all! But, at least I wasn't going thru any kind of labor!! :-) And I was awake!!!! I got to hear my baby girl take her first breath!! And what a nice, hearty cry!! Warren was right there again, holding my hand. And he got to hold her so that I could take a good look at her and tell her Hi! It was one of those moments you never forget! She weighed in at 9 lbs 6 oz. and very healthy! We got to bring her home in 3 days...It was back to diapers, and feedings, and the whole works, boy, it's easy to forget how much work babies are! But, we were once again reminded! However, she was a very good baby! (plus, we had BIG SISTER to help out too!) I got lucky, no colic in either of my babies! As she grew, we came to realize the difference between our daughters personalitys...Alyssa has been more outgoing, and mischievious!! And talkative!!!! Her mouth goes and goes all the time, and she doesn't care if anyone is even listening!! In grocery stores, she is always talking to everyone, "Hi, my name is Alyssa!" She is always into SOMETHING! One of my favorite stories occurred when she was just learning to walk...We tried to keep the bathroom door shut, well, one time it got left open..I was in my room, and could hear her jabbering in the kitchen, then suddenly came every mothers radar, SILENCE! I went on a search, and found her in the bathroom, standing IN the toilet...she looks up at me with the same smile in the picture above and claps for herself!! I wanted to die laughing... Then, there's another story...Alyssa decided she wanted to help mommy with laundry, she came downstairs, turned on the water in the utility sink in laundry room, and shoved clothes in...then, something distracted her and she decided to go upstairs, leaving the water running...Warren woke up and all I could hear was yelling! He said he came down stairs, and as his foot stepped on the carpet after the last stair, water covered his toes!!! This was all done before 9am!!!! So, as you can see, our Lyssie constantly keeps us on our toes...But we just love her and her fun-loving spirit!! |
