Len's Trip To Snow
News From GNSP
Sugarland visitor center was crowed with people waiting for 441
to open. Local TV had announced that the road should open sometime
before noon. Over a foot of snow had fallen over night at the
top of the park. I headed south toward Cades Cove, to kill some time, when I ran
into about 15 wild turkey on the side of the road.
I traveled over the mountain and entered Elkmont A car stopped in
the road alerted me to four deer off the side of the road.
Mom and three babies.

US 441 did not open until 11:00 o’clock. It was well worth
the wait. I headed for the best sledding spot in the Park,
the Chimneys Picnic Area. This is a very popular activity as you
can see we were not alone sliding down the hill.
