| BIBLE STUDY Ecclesiastes Time - Ecc. 3:1-8 There is NEVER enough time it seems. According to God there is a time for EVERYTHING and for us not to rush. Friendships - Ecc. 4:9-10 My parents always told me when I got older that I would only be able to count my friends on my hands. I was always naive. I thought my big group of friends? Not be friends anymore? Never. Recently that happened. I saw my friends becoming cliques and doing things I didn't think they should be doing. Soon, I was able to count my best and closest friends on one hand. It's hard to imagine but its true. Hold your friends close to you. Popularity - Ecc. 4:13 Popularity is the biggest peer pressure topic. God tells us, "Do not Envy." "It is better to be poor and wise than an old and foolish King." Promises - Ecc. 5:4 I find myself making promises a lot. To friends, family... Ok, I'll do it. And I keep putting it off and off until someone gets mad and words fly. I think we do the same to God sometimes. We promise him we won't do that anymore and we find ourselves back in the same boat we promised we wouldn't be in. God tells us it is worse to make a vow and not pay than to not vow at all. Keep your promises. Fear God - Ecc. 5:6 There are so many times when we try to be the best Christian we can and we end up talking about people here and there anyways. 5:6 says, Do not let your mouth cause your flesh to sin......Fear God. Intense huh. Think before you speak and make your words count. Sin - Ecc. 7:20 As much as we try to be or act like God, we will NEVER be sinless. You may think, why so negative? I am not being negative, it's the truth. We are human. Not perfect. We all mess up, but God is always there to help us learn from our mistakes and move on. Control - Ecc. 8:8,15 We worry a lot. The smallest thing that we can't control, usually goes wrong, and we can't do anything about it, even if we think we can. God tells us in Ecc. 8:8 that we have NO control over the spririt. He tells us that we shouldn't worry about it. Let him take care of it. He has the biggest remote control ever and he will do what needs to be done. In reality we should be the happiest people on earth (8:15), because God gives us the ability to be happy and not have to worry about anything. Death and Dying - Ecc. 9:5 Death is usually a scary, morbid thing. But when you are a daughter/son of Christ, then you have nothing to worry about. To us our bodies are dying, we are really living. To nonbelievers they are going to be dead: spiritually and physically. Look Your Best - Ecc. 9:8 Being a Christian, gives us the ability to not have to care what people think -- in a context. We don't have to care if they think we are stupid or if we look like idiots preaching what we believe, but we do have to look nice. Let your garments always be white and let your head lack no oil. Solomon tells us that life is extremely short. We don't want to have lived a life going around looking like a bum. Being clean, makes you look like you deserve respect and that you have self-respect. Which gives an oppurtunity for other people who are nonbelievers to look up to you! Time and Chance - Ecc. 9:11-12 The good things aren't always going to happen to the good people and the bad things to the bad people. God tells us, it is up to Time and Chance. But those who are under God, can make the best out of any situation, knowing they still have one good thing in their lives. Common Sense - Ecc. 10:8 Ever heard the saying : You've made your bed, now lie in it? Well, it had to come from somewhere, and if you would, believe that it came from the bible. Verse 10:8 tells us; He who digs a pit will fall into it. Going day to day, teens find thereselves in so MANY situations. Think of all actions and consequences before jumping in the pit. Living Life - Ecc. 11:8 Going through life, we find ourselves taking life in steps or chunks. My birthday needs to be here. When will school be out. I want to graduate. We wish for the things in the future, instead of living for today. We are not granted tomorrow. Live for today not tomorrow Teaching - Ecc. 12:10 Our teachers/preachers in life know a lot of stuff, and could be doing a lot more things than teaching us their knowledge; but they don't. They try their best to teach us in the best way they know how. Respect them. Give them the respect they deserve, because guess what. They are working for God and believe me anyone working for him is worth listening to! Judgement Day - Ecc. 12:14 Everything under the sun has a judgment. Whether it is the small things or the huge things. Sin has no measure. Whether the act is good or evil, it will be judged. Be ready for that. Take all things in this book and live by them. They are the words of God taken from a man: Solomon. |
