In order to understand the life of Christ, it is necessary for us to know something about his country and the people who lived there. But the first thing you ought to do is take a minute out and ask God for His help along with the Holy Spirit's help. Jesus was born to Jewish parents in the land we know today as Israel. Although Jesus actually lived in what was known as the Roman Empire. They called the country Palestine. Although Jesus was a native of Palestine He and His country man were called Jews. Israel had been conquered by the Romans. Read Luke 1:1-4 Luke was concerned that the foundations of Christian belief be transmitted accurately and intact to future generations. Luke used many firsthand accounts. The Bible encourages you to investigate it's claims thoroughly because your conclusion about Jesus is a life-and-death matter. As a medical doctor, he used his skills in observation and analysis to thoroughly investigate the stories about Jesus. Our spiritual growth must involve careful, disciplined, and thorough investigation.
