Journal #1: Fate or Free Will? 10/4/05

The difference between free will and fate is that free will is what the person chooses to do, rather than fate, which is like a destiny, it is meant to happen. I think that man has both free will and fate. A man has free will because he can choose what he wants to do and how he wants to do it. He also has fate, because some things happen because they are meant to happen at some point in time. There are things in life that are going to happen, beyond our control. However, there are also things that we can choose to do, and not have a fate attached to it. For example, if we are leaving school, and we forget a book in our locker, we have to go back and get it. As we are leaving the school again, we get into an accident. Now, if we had not gone back to get our book, or if we walked a little slower or whatnot, we wouldnt of gotten into that accident. If we do something, there is going to be a consequence that follows, but even though there is a consequence, it is the fact that we are choosing what to do that gives us free will.
