| Q - How do you keep so up-to-date with the latest songs? A - I'm always checking Air1 and RadioU. When new songs are added to those two stations, I then add them to this site. Q - I put the music code for so-and-so's song on my site, but it won't play. What gives? (Added 5/17/06) A - Do you have RealPlayer 10 installed? All of the songs on this site are in Real Media format, so this player is REQUIRED to play them. (Don't worry, it's free and about as easy to install as any other media player. You can download it here.) Once it's installed, or if it already is, make sure it's set as the default player for ALL Real Media files, including .ram and .rm. You have the option to do this during installation to save you time, but if you already have it installed, you can do it by going to Tools > Preferences. Once there, under Category, click the "+" next to Content (if there is one instead of a "-") and click Media Types. Select "Manually configure media types for RealPlayer" and click the Select button. Ignore all of the media types listed EXCEPT for the ones under "RealAudio and RealVideo" -- make sure those all have check marks next to them and click OK. Now that you're back on the Media Types page, I would recommend you place a check mark next to "Reapply your media type settings every time RealPlayer starts" if there isn't one already -- this will help make sure these settings don't get changed. Click OK once more and you're done. Q - When trying to listen to a song, I get an error message that says "The link you followed may be outdated or inaccurate. I do have RealPlayer 10 installed. What does this mean? A - There's something wrong with the song. Please let me know and I'll try my best to fix it (see the Contact page). Q - I've noticed you have some non-Christian bands/artists on your site, such as Chevelle, Zao, etc. What's up with that? A - When putting a certain band's music on the site, I don't just consider whether they sing about God in all of their songs. I also consider other things, such as whether or not they're played on Christian radio stations (such as RadioU) or if they play at Christian events such as festivals, etc. In the case of some definitely non-Christian bands like John Michael Montgomery, it is stated on the Request page that if a secular band has a particular song with a Christian message, I MIGHT add it if it's requested (emphesis on "might"). Please see the Request page for more info on this. Q - I have an MP3 for the song that I want to request. Would you like me to send it to you? A - As easy as that would make it for me, I don't download MP3s directly from other people through IMs or e-mails. Q - Why don't you have songs in Windows Media Audio format? A - Providing songs in both Real Audio AND Windows Media Audio format is something I've been considering for quite some time now. It certainly would be ideal for the people who use my site. However, such a change would cause some problems, the following three being the biggest: 1. Having the songs that are on the site in both formats would double the bandwidth and disk space usage. And trust me, that's a LOT of bandwidth and disk space usage. 2. It would take significantly more time to add these songs to my website if I have two files (the RA file and the WMA file) to upload instead of just one (the RA file), and I already spend a lot of time doing this with one file. 3. At this time, I don't know of any GOOD MP3 to WMA converter software, so it's not really possible at this time to provide WMA songs. Perhaps someday, when I figure out a solution to these problems, I can start providing songs in both formats. Until then, this is the best I can do. Real Audio has better quality than WMA anyways. ;) Q - Why don't you have any Relient K songs on your site? They're awesome! A - At one time, I had about a dozen Relient K songs on the site. Then on Oct. 6th, 2004, the President of EMI Christian Music Group (www.emicmg.com) e-mailed me asking me to remove all Relient K songs from the site. He didn't say why, and I didn't feel like asking and risk possibly making enemies with him (you never know with those big business people). I am currently looking for another site that has Relient K codes, and when I find one, I'll link it on the Links page (and probably a few other places on the site as well). Q - How do I add a music code to my Xanga? A - There's one way to do this that I know of: 1. Sign into Xanga.com 2. Under "Edit," click on "Look & Feel" 3. Under "Input your own Header HTML," paste the code in the text field. 4. Save changes and you're done. Q - How do I make my own music codes? A - Here's how I do it: 1. Get the song somehow in MP3 format, and convert it to the format you want. For Real Audio, I recommend using RealProducer Basic 10 (don't worry, it's free). You're on your own for Windows Media Audio format, though. I don't know of any converters for that. Do a Google search -- you may find something there. 2. Upload the song to an online host, such as Geocities or Angelfire or something. (You'll need to create an account at any of those hosting sites first, of course.) 3. Copy and paste the url for the song into this code, replacing the red text: <embed align="top" src="http://www.geocities.com/yourscreennamehere/artistname_songtitle.rm" width="150" height="50" type="audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin" loop="</htpdiv" autostart="true" controls="all" border="0"> Q: What happened to the "Listen" buttons? A: The "Listen" buttons were there for the sole purpose of previewing a song to make sure it worked before putting the code for it on one's site. However, people abused this feature, coming here just to listen to music whenever they wanted (basically using my site as their own customized radio station). So on March 6, 2005, I got rid of the buttons, and I have no plans to ever bring them back at this time. Q: Are there any other sites with Christian music codes besides yours? (Added 8/24/05) A: Not that I'm aware of, unfortunately. Sorry. www.forhimwebdesigns.com used to have some, but I can't find them anymore, so I assume they removed them for some reason.
