| Third Day fans have long been asking the band the same question, When are you going to make a worship album? Well, the band has finally done just that. Composed of six live favorites and five new songs, Offerings: A Worship Album is a stunning compilation that takes praise and worship to a whole new level. Offerings begins with "King of Glory", which asks Who is this King of Glory? His name is Jesus, precious Jesus. The music swells into a mighty chorus of praise, complete with a background choir. "These Thousand Hills" was written by Forty Days, now signed with Benson Records. The song speaks of Gods creation and eternal kingdom. |
The first live track is "Your Love, O Lord" from their Time cd. This is followed by a live versions of Angus Dei from the Exodus project, in which Mac Powell closes with an acoustic, crowd-involving rendition of Holy. A remake of Bob Marleys "Saved" is an interesting addition and has the flavor of a western bar tune combined with an old Negro spiritual. A live version of "My Hope is You" follows, with Mac singing and the crowd repeating parts of the chorus. Fans are sure to love "Youre Everywhere", which was written for their Conspiracy No. 5 project but did not make the cut. The song is a slow rock ballad that praises Gods omnipresence and how we are never out of His embrace. "Thief" is extremely different live than on cd. The piano is more background, drummer David Carr sounds great on the bongos, and the three guitarists rock harder. This results in a more emotionally involving picture of the scene of Christs forgiving the thief while on the cross. A live performance of fan-favorite "Consuming Fire" will blow the listener away. Harder and with more bass than on their self-titled debut, it sounds like it is going to jump right off the cd and into your living room. Put on a pair of headphones, close your eyes, and you will swear you are part of the crowd. The last new song on "Offerings is All the Heavens", a quiet, intimate song of worship. All the heavens cannot you Lord/How much less to dwell in me/I can only make my one desire/Holding unto thee. Using only an acoustic guitar, bass, and percussion, this song is a beautiful and passionate. The album closes with a live version of just Mac and his acoustic on "Just to Be with You". Long-awaited and highly-anticipated, Offerings: A Worship Album is more than any Third Day fan could have hoped for. It combines one of Christian musics best bands with praise and worship that is sure to lift the listeners spirits. Dont miss out! |
