Miss Havisham
wax, silk flowers, oil paint, cording, found chandelier
2003, in the collection of Ingrid Rudh

In this piece I work more intentionally with the concept of character and made a connection between Dicken's Miss Havisham in
Great Expectations and the contemporary Bride fo Christ.

This is the fifth in the Virgins series.
For a short time, Miss Havisham was installed in the auditorium of my alma mater, Baton Rouge Magnet High School. These shots are deceptive, however, because most of the time, all of the heavy black velvet curtains were drawn and she and her scattered flowers were seen only by those who happened across her.
