For Performance Day 2005, at the Art Academy, Fine Arts sophomore Ruth Wartman approached Eric and I, as well as painter Steve Kemple, to do two large action paintings on the lawn. Pairing off, Steve and Ruth embraced the full potential of activity, violence, and aggresive painting, while Eric and I found ourselves resembling more the pace and speed of painters such as Morris Louis, Cy Twombly, and Helen Frankenthaler. This painting did not survive, but the experience continued a lesson in collaboration I have been learning through my sophomore year. |
