First light upon creation,
God breathed into existence;
First heart from dust and mud,
God formed into mortal man.
First word to His creation:
I give you every seed-bearing plant;
He knew this was only just the beginning,
His gracious gift would cost Him everything.
First day of God's creation,
God breathed resplendent glory on the earth;
Evening and morning split the darkness,
As God gave this world eternal worth.
First love upon His creation,
God breathed into the body of His own Son;
Who came to give Himself a sacrifice,
To save every lost and dying human.
First fruit of many brothers,
The Head of the Church, the Body of Christ;
Was broken for sin to bring back unity,
In a fallen corpse void of eternal life.
First hope of every fallen sinner,
God breathed His grace and mercy from Heaven;
Freely given by Our Father to wash away sin,
In the heart and soul of all of His children.
First born of our Heavenly Father,
God breathed His Word as King Eternal;
Perfect in salvation, holy in substance,
The Sovereign Will of God now calls.
First light in these last times,
The Lamb of God, a thorny crown;
The blood-stained Cross of Jesus Christ,
The place where God-breathed Truth is found.
