They still had time, but that time had come and gone.
[Now the day has come]
"It's come," Sailor Heart said solemnly. "The day, our last day, has come."
[We are forsaken this time]
"Why?" Sailor Jester asked, near to tears. "Why have we become so..."
"Forsaken," Sailor Heartius finished.
---
[We lived our lives in our paradise,]
Sailor Heart looked from the wall down onto the city below. She looked at the alleys she once would run in and out of. She looked to the castle gate, which she once climbed religiously. She looked to the garden beyond, where she would convince her teachers to conduct lessons.
[As gods we shaped the world around]
She looked up to the castle, to her tower, where she would live out a sick day or would avoid on a rainy one. She looked to the main castle. Within was the throne room, the ballroom hall, the royal cathedral...
[No borderlines we'd stay behind,]
She looked down at her feet and let her eyes follow the line of the stones up to the guard post. This, not the castle, had been her home in the days since the rise of the red light.
The red light...
[Though balance is something fragile]
She turned her gaze out to the horizon. It was all red now. What the red was, they couldn't know for sure. Was it the true gods, come to prove the frailty of their mortal subjects? Was it a weapon from an unknown enemy? Or, was it the balance of nature finally trying to take back what truely belonged to it?
---
[While we thought we were gaining,]
"All this time we thought we were safe, we thought we were on top," General Maskoe mused, threatening to go blind from how long we would watch the red. "Every step up, every advance left and right... for what?"
[We'd turn back the time, it still slips away]
"All of those advances couldn't help us now," Heartius said, tossing aside a history book. "You know, I'm not sure we could have figured it out with more time.
"Not even if we turned time back?" Jester asked, still innocent in view even now. Heart looked at them as Heartius shook her head.
[Our time has run out, our future has died,]
"No, not even then," she said. "This is truely the end. There is no more time, no future to look forward to. Nothing."
[There's no more escape]
"There is no escape," Maskoe said solemnly as he turned and walked to the stairs to join his soldiers. The three senshi looked at each other sadly and yet knowingly. This knowing look was replaced by sudden terror as one of the red flares suddenly reached out over the ocean, carving a line of steam as it reached to the castle walls.
"Move!" Heartius screamed. She grabbed her princess and pulled her back, threatening to throw her from the wall. Heart couldn't hear, couldn't breath, couldn't see anything but the arm of red, and the ash it turned her dear jester into.
---
[Now the day has come,]
[We are forsaken,]
[There's no time anymore]
[Life will pass us by,]
[We are forsaken,]
[We're the last of our kind]
---
[The sacrifice was much too high,]
"No, no, no!" Heart screamed, crying with all she had as she beat her fists on the spot where Jester had stood before being turned to ash and nothingness. "No!" She hung her head, the sight burned into her mind so deeply that it would be scarred there forever. Jester's eyes, her lovely grey eyes so wide with fright and sudden shock. That was perhaps all she felt. It happened so quickly, there must not have been pain, only momentary fear.
"Princess, we must go behind the wall!" Heartius shouted, choking back her own tears for the kindly jester she had only recntly begun to like.
"No, no, I can't!" Heart cried. "No! Jester!" She sobbed loudly, her sorrow so moving that General Maskoe took his helm off and knelt at the top of the stairs, saying a prayer for the fallen one.
[Our greed just made us all go blind]
"Princess! We- Must!" With a great thrust, Heartius pulled Heart up to her feet. It was then that Heart saw her beloved home again, this time with reborn eyes. All its grandness, all its splendor and richness. Had she basked in this greed all her life? Now, she would gladly give it all up for Sailor Jester.
[We tried to hide what we feared inside]
"Princess, please, we must," General Maskoe said, keeping a stiff upper lip. "We must go to what safety we have left."
"Yes, let's go with the general," Heartius said, taking deep breaths to calm herself. Heart stared up at her blankly.
[Today is the end of tomorrow]
"...Or, the end of today..." Suddenly, there was a great seismic jerk that threw the general and Heartius forward and Heart onto her knees. She gasped and lunged at the wall's edge. Supporting herself on it, her eyes widened at the sight. It had hit the ocean.
[As the sea started rising,]
The water closest to them began to rise as the water at the red began to disappear. The water, in response to the seismic quakes, rose onto the land and began its undulating dance.
[The land that we conquered just washed away]
Back and forth, back and forth, the water violently rushed against the land, wearing it away until the water was lapping at the castle wall, shaking it with great force.
[Although we all have tried to turn back the tide,]
Then, the water was sucked away from them. The water evaporated by the red was being replaced by the water that attacked the land, but now it, too, was evaporating into nothingness. It was in the rising and disappearing steam that Heart had a revelation. She turned slowly to look to the left. Heartius and General Kaskoe followed.
[It was all in vain]
Red.
To their right...
Red.
Framing the castle...
Red.
"We're surrounded."
---
[Now the day has come,]
[We are forsaken,]
[There's no time anymore]
[Life will pass us by, we are forsaken,]
[Only ruins stay behind]
---
She averted her eyes to the people in the distance. Some hugged, some prayed, some laughed, some cried.
[Now the day has come]
"Heartius, it is time..."
"Princess?"
[We are forsaken this time]
"We cannot save our world," Heart said, standing on the unsteadly wall. "We must save who we can."
---
It was swift. It was hurried. It was full of panic and fear. They couldn't change that anymore than they could change the fate of their world, or the fate of Jester.
The citizens gathered at the center point of the city, just in front of the castle gates. Heart and Heartius had climbed the gate to gather those within the castle, but Heartius had found them all in the chapel, drugged asleep, waiting for the inevitable. She pulled her princess away before she could see and together, with the crystal of Hearthia, they began pooling their energies. But, the panic of the crowd broke through the gate prematurely. Before being swallowed and trampled, they leapt to the wall. They had no sooner landed when the world seemed to suddenly just jerk. Heartius nearly fell, but Heart grabbed her free hand and hoisted her back up. They crouched and held onto the thin wall as the people flowed into the castle, perhaps believing it would protect them. Only a few noticed the two senshi were still outside. Those few were by General Maskoe, watching the senshi.
---
[Now the day has come,]
"We can't save them all," Heartius said loudly, trying to be heard over the growing cracking.
"I can't just leave them!" Heart argued.
[We are forsaken,]
"We have to!" Heartius argued back, grabbing Heart's arm and forcing her to jump down to the ground. "There's no saving them all in this state!" she shouted as she pulled Heart over to the general. "They are too paniked to listen and we don't have time! Either they die or we all die! Either way, they die!" Heart could feel inaudible pounding in her ears as she looked to the surrounding red light. The ground beneath their feet began to crack under the surrounding pressure. "Princess!"
[There's no time anymore]
"Let's do it!" Heart cried, fresh tears now streaming her tear-stained face. They cupped the crystal together again and pooled their power. The general spaced the soon-to-be survivors around them and they all folded their hands in prayer. The crystal became brilliant, rays of pink, red, and white light shooting out from it at all angles. The surrounding red light seems to swallow them as it neared.
"Light of love, power of heart!" Heartius and Heart chanted together. Over and over they repeated it as they were swiftly surrounded by ribbons of light that turned into a bubble. Those within prayed feverishly as they felt the red light closing it, filling them with dread.
"Light of love, power of heart!" With one last chant, they disappeared into the thin air that remained. The planet was swallowed by the red light. Then, it dimmed and the planet broke apart into nothing, a ball of ash that dispersed into space.

[Now the day has come]
"It is today," said a quiet, somber voice. The blong-haired young woman in humble clothes looked to her companions.
[The day has come]
"It is today," repeated the once-proud voice of their male companion.
[The day has come.]
"It is today..." said softly the third, female, companion. The three looked over their home, what had been their home for a full revolution now, by the time their planet once went by. "That day has come..." The blond and the man turned to make for the slope of the hill. The third did not move, and they noticed.
"Christel?" the blond said questioningly. The young woman looked over her shoulder, her red hair in buns and tied by a pair of blue ribbons.
"Coming," she said, as she hurried to follow. She looked over her shoulder at the top of the hill. That day...
