ETHIOPIA
CHRIST CHURCH & WORLD VISION
The 2nd annual Six Hour Summit took place on the 12th March at the World Vision HQ. Various speakers from their  projects, including Jonathon game who has responsibility for Lideta, gave presentations. Christ Church was represented by June Fox & Ann Rhodes.

The 1st Christ Church Women's Prayer Breakfast was on Easter Saturday. This day was chosen because in the Ethiopian Orthodox Church on that day worshippers meet & read aloud the whole of Song of Songs, as is done in synagogues at Passover. We did the same, which led us into prayer. After that we retired to Damon's for breakfast! The next prayer breakfast will be on Saturday 9th July. This will be just 1 week  after the
MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY march to Edinburgh, where many thousands will have made their voices heard as the leaders of the G8 nations meet. This will be the focus of our prayer. Please feel free to join us at 9AM in Church.

On June 1st  2005 we celebrate our first anniversary, as a Church, of partnership with the people of Lideta. To celebrate this we have a '
Birthday Wish List' with gifts ranging in price from 1 to 57, which our friends in Lideta will be happy to receive to mark our good fortune in being linked with them. The list is on the Lideta notice board, or you may wish to ring June to receive one in the post.
On 1st June 2004 Christ Church became, through World Vision, a partner to the Lideta project, an urban area on the outskirts of Addis Ababa. Since then we have raised over 2,600 from individuals, The Garden Group, Kidzone, the Christmas Fair, a Valentine Raffle & most recently  the 10toTeens raised over 170 by organising a donation car wash. We also sent 320 to World Vision for their Tsunami Appeal.

We sponsor 8 children. Four by Home Groups, two by individuals, one by 10toTeens & one by Kidzone. This means that for 18 per month (60p per day), a child receives education, a feeding programme & health care!
