Father's Day
Time goes by so slowly...the stereo blares out and she mouths the words I need your love, I need your love...but no sound comes out; her voice is choked back by  tears gathering in her throat.

Oh my love, my darling...a sob shakes her slender frame. I hunger for your touch... She wraps her arms around her kness and rocks gently in time to the music. Tears cascade down her cheeks and drip onto the  framed picture she holds in her hands.

She stares at the young man, whose gaze never wavers, as he smiles back from the photograph. She traces his beloved face with one finger.
"I miss you" she whispers. Raising her eyes heavenwards she asks yet again
Why him?

Across the room, unaware of her pain, a baby lays on a blanket. Kicking his feet, he chuckles; his laughter attracts her attention.

Through teary eyes she stares down at him and something stirs deep inside her, and hurts so bad.

The song begins again,
Oh my love, my darling....

She slides to the floor and lays alongside her son, breathes in the sweet baby scent of him.
I need your love...she sings, her voice wavering. He turns and smiles at her, holds out a chubby little hand  and her heart shatters into a million tiny pieces.
