How things got their names and how the grass came to be green....
In the beginning the world was made in seven days, well no six actually, or was it just one big bang and there you go....Anyhow, let's say the creator made the world, including what we now know as planet earth. And on  this planet of ours, not that we actually own any of it you understand although we like to call it ours, the creator placed certain things necessary to sustain the life forms that were to be created to populate the planet. To begin with there was just wet stuff and hard dry stuff.
The people had no idea why half the world was wet stuff and the other half hard dry stuff. In the interests of clear communication it became necessary to devise a name for these wet and dry things. The wet stuff, became known as water...this came about because the folk had no idea what to call the wet stuff and began to say 'what err?' and it stuck. Likewise 'err the?' became earth and was adopted as the name for the hard dry stuff.
Now when the planet was first made it was back in the old days and everything was in black and white. It was a textural world where the only real difference between chalk and cheese was that one was hard and nasty on the tongue and the other was soft and cheesy, albeit a little smelly at times. It was hell trying to differentiate and caused many an upset stomach. The people revolted and campaigned long and hard for colour to be introduced as a way of brightening up the world and helping to avoid the horrid confusions that having everything black and white had caused. The odd shades of grey that had developed over the years hadn't helped any and only added to the confusion.
It was decided that colour was the way to go and the creator made three extra colours available to the people but told them to use these colours carefully as once the colour had been allocated, there was no turning back. The colours available were blue, red, yellow. It was decided that the top of the world needed a bit of brightening up and so they decided on blue for the sky. It was while they were busy painting the sky blue that some bright spark decided that the sun could do with a bit of brightening up too and yellow was suggested. It was agreed. The only problem was that the sun was farther away than they thought and all attempts to paint the sun only resulted in yellow splashes on the ground. Content with the brightness that yellow ground provided the people decided not to waste any more time trying to paint the sun, which obviously had no real desire to be yellow anyway, and they continued with the sky painting instead. It was a much bigger job than they had first thought and as the sky painters tired, they became more slapdash in their work and before long the yellow splashes on the ground were joined by an equal number of blue splashes. By this time the painters were too tired to care and they packed up for the night and went home to sleep. In the morning when they left their homes to resume the job of painting the sky, they were amazed to find that instead of the yellow and blue splashes they had left on the ground the night before, everything had turned varying shades of...well they didn't know what to call it? The foreman of the sky painting job was not well pleased when he saw it and he began to yell and stamp his feet 'Grrr' went the foreman in bad temper.
Its not so bad the people said it e'en looks quite nice
'Grr' said the foreman That's what we'll call it the people said 'grr e'en'. And that is how the grass came to be green.
