When we first become the spiritual children of God, we are "born again" unto God. We are delivered from a spiritual death unto spiritual life, through our Savior, Jesus Christ. Just as it is in the physical world, we are born as infants to our parents; in the spiritual sense, we are born as babes to our spiritual life to our Father in Heaven. In reviewing LUKE 18:16-18, we see that the infants are included with the "children" Jesus is talking about. Keeping this in mind, we can understand this next scripture as it relates to what we are now exploring. Listen to what Peter says in 1 PETER 2:2 (LJV):
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
Peter tells us here that as "babes" we desire the sincere "milk of the word"; the teachings of Jesus, so that we can "grow" in our spirituality. We need this "milk" to grow, just as an infant needs milk to physically grow and develop.
Since HEBREWS 5:13 tells us:
13 For every one that useth milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
It is only natural that one may ask "How do I receive the milk of the word?" The answer is to continually: read the Bible, seek and learn from others that follow the "Will" of God, and pray. In doing this, Jesus tells us in JOHN 14:26
26 But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
PRAISE AND GLORY TO GOD! How awsome to have the Holy Ghost as our teacher!!
One last thought, it is important to pray for the ability to discern between the truth from God, and false teachings, when listening to others, for we are told over and over again, that many false prophets are gone out into the world, but by their "fruits" ye shall know them.
