| WHAT REALLY MATTERS article 1 What really matters to you in your life?Is it 3T, money, school, your family, love? Think about it. What comes first for you. What comes before all else? It's the first thing you think about when you open your eyes in the morning, and the last thing you think about when you close your eyes at night. So what was your answer? Was it God? Maybe not. If it wasn't God, I can tell you this, He wants you to put Him first, put God above all else. Just read the Ten Commandents, it's the first one -- Deuteronomy 7-22 "You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in Heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God,punishing the children for the sin of their fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments." I know, it's hard. You get so caught up in the stress of life, and whose saying what and so on, that sometimes you just can't think of anything else. Have you ever done that? Let's pretend for a moment, you've listened to your friends go on and on about their experience meeting 3T. All you want is to meet them. Finally, that day comes. There they are, Taj, Taryll and Tj standing right in front of you. You take a few, okay maybe a dozen pictures, get some autographs, talk for a bit and go home. What happens next is a pivitol moment. Do you A) let 3T now take over your every word, thought and breath, allowing no room for anything else? or B)Be overcome with excitement and talk to everyone who will listen about your experience, but make sure you leave room for other things as well? It's so easy to become so into something that it takes over your life, such as 3T. Heres the problem, sure 3T are talented musicians and great guys, but you now find yourself stressing over what people say about them, what people say about you, what 3T are doing and so on. You lose touch with your friends. You'd rather spend your time online than out with your friends, you slack on your homework because you get so distracted by the current news posted. It's endless. What makes this such a problem is you're completely out of touch with what REALLY matters. Your life gets puts on hold and slowly falls apart. Your grades start to slip, your friendships are broken, and who knows what else. When God is #1 in your life, you walk a different path, you open yourself up to a whole new way of experiencing life. You know you can enjoy the God given talents of others and even get a little crazy sometimes, but no matter what you'll always come back down. There are times though, even when God is #1, that sometimes you forget, but we are all sinners, we'll fall and make mistakes. It's when you get back up again, that the difference is made. God wants to be #1 because God is what really matters in life. How could you not put the one who molded you in His hands, the one who created everything you see as #1 in your life? Isn't that a lot more impressive than Tj's bandaid? The point, I'm making is simple. Don't let wordly things cloud your mind. Whether it be positive or negative, it will have effets you may not desire. You will not want to live a life of regret. Think of how you'll feel years from now when you look back at how you were. Will you be proud or wish you could do it all over again? Will the end results of how you lived your life be full of reward or full of disappointment? God will never disappoint, but the world will always let you down. It may not be too easy. But that's the point, God's love is as infinite as the stars above. Isn't that love, worth making #1 in your life? |
