Tyr is the Norse god of war. He is also considered to be one of the bravest of the gods. He had no myths that were all his own, but he often appeared in myths with Thor. He is a son of either Odin or a giant.
Tyr is thought to have lost his right hand when he placed it in Fenris-Wolf's mouth while he was being bound. He is also thought to be left handed, which some believe to show dishonesty and deception, as a left handed person could carry a sword in his left hand, and simoultaneously shake with his right. Tuesday is named after Tyr.
