Cloth - It takes about three yards of fabric depending on the size of the individual. The cost of the fabric will depend on the type of fabric used.
1.) Tunics should extend down to the knees when belted at the waist. To get this distance hold the cloth in front of you, holding it at the shoulders. The cloth should extend about 4 inches below the knee. Mark the fold of the cloth. You will need the same length in the back as the front.
2.) Cut a 9-inch slit about an inch back from the centerline of the tunic for your head.
Expand this slit to a triangle about 6 inches tall. See drawing.
3.) The upper part of the T should extend from elbow to elbow and should be 10 inches to 12 inches deep depending on your size. Cut the fabric to the correct dimensions.
4.) Sew the undersides of the arms together to form sleeves.
5.) Sew the sides together down to just below where the pockets would be on a pair of pants.
6.) Hem all exposed edges. This is done by folding over the cloth about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch towards the inside and sewing it into place.
