We each have a spirit guide, or Guardian
Angel. When we try to make a connection with departed spirits, it is the spirit
guide who assists, helps and protects us. This ritual is designed to help make
contact with your guide, drawing back the veil so that you may peer into the
light.
TIMING
The time and day are not important
for this rite.
CANDLES
Day candle as appropriate,
3 violet candles inscribed "Spirit",
3 White candles inscribed "Truth"
OIL
Acacia, anise, and cassia,or
Gardenia, jasmine and lotus, or
Jasmine, lemon rose and sandalwood,
INCENSE
Anise,cardamom and
coriander or
fleawort, hemp seed, parsley, and violet root.
KEY WORD
"Merge"
SUPPLEMENTARY ITEMS,
Crystal ball,(if
you do not have one, a clear glass tumbler filled
with water will do. A small piece of black cloth, preferably
velvet.
BATH
Almond, anise,
lavendar, mint and orange bergamont.
or cinnamon, frankincense, myrrh, and sandalwood.
Breathe deeply, building a ball of protective light,
while soaking in the bath, meditate on the whole
ritual, and what you wish to say to your spirit guide.
Enter circle and light incense.
With the oil,dress Altar candles and Day candle. Concentrate
on the purpose of the rite.
Light taper, then light Altar and day candles. Say... I am here to make contact with my Spirit Guide, and
to acknowledge him or her.
Dress violet #1 candle with oil, and say: Here do I light the first lamp of spirit. May its
light reach out across the barriers from this world
to the next, making contact with that World of Spirit
into which we will all eventually enter.
Take
up the censer and swing it, censing the whole area
around the altar, while rhythmically repeating the
key word "Merge"
Build up energy to that focus. Take up the Violet
#2 candle, dress it with the oil, and light it Say: Here do I light the second Lamp of Spirit. May
its light also reach out across the barriers from
this world to the next. May it make contact with that
World of Spirit and help spread the light, illuminating
the passage way between our worlds.
Take up the censer, censing the whole area around
the alter, repeating the key word rhythmically,and
bulding uo the energy. Take up the Violet #3 candle,
dress it and light it. Say: Here do I light the third lamp of Spirit. May its
light also reach out across the barriers from this
world to the next. May the light from these three
lamps blend and grow, dispelling all darkness and
lighting the way that my Spirit guide may come to
me and speak with me here today.
Dress the three white candles with oil, and light
them. Say: here do I build truth. As these candles burn throughout
this ritual, their power generates nothing but the
truth in all that transpires between this world and
the next. Through these candles there is truth in
all communications that come to me.<.i>
Take up censer and cense whole ritual area,chanting
the key word.Now sit and gaze into the crystal. Stand
ball on the black cloth, gradually let your chanting
taper off and sit quietly looking into the crystal.
Try to keep your mind blank,so that whatever appears
comes of its own free will. Gaze into the center,
look naturally, blinking as you need.
Eventually a face or figure should appear there. It
may take a long while to come. (If it doesn't come
at all, after about twenty minutes, abandon attempt.
Extinguish candles in reverse order and close the
circle. Leave everything set up, and try again in
three days time. If nothing happens then, try again
at three day intervals. You should have results within
a month)
If a figure does appear, accept it and ask if he/she
is your spirit guide. You may not hear the answer
out loud, but you will become aware of the answer.
This is how the conversation will proceed, ask questions
mentally, and the answers will come into your head.
When you have finished speaking to your guide, thank
him/her, then sit for a moment with your eyes closed,
meditating on all you have learned.
Extinguish candles in reverse order and close the
circle.
