amnesty international

I am a member of this human-rights organisation since 7 years. I joined it because I read a book about the situation if SouthAfrica (the story of Ruth First) and thought, that I should do something against the injustices in the world. So I joined a local group and till then we are meeting once a month and try to do public work as making an information stand at the market or organising a piano concert. It is an intersting work, but sometimes it is also depressive as you dont hear anything from most governments. Before Christmas we got the message, that our file isover. Our prisoner in Peru was released! Good Christmas presentfor us all. It is nice to see, taht our work has success! We wrote many letters to the different governments. When we will get a new file, I will have a letter on this page, which you can download and send to the government. So you would help us in our human rights work. Thank you!

This photo was made December 1999 at a Christmas market, where my amnesty international group gave information to interested people and we also sold calendars, pencils, pens, umbrellas.... and self-sewed teddy (hand puppets). It was a great success and we also got many signatures for our petition. This market is every year and always a big success. We are happy to be there!
