Walking  Miracle
(By Pam Morgan)

Aaaaaah!!!  We were on  Oprah!!!

OK, so it isn't like me to lose my cool like  that.  As Phil  says, I am the sophisticated one.   Well, this  sophisticated lady was JUST ON  STAGE WITH OPRAH WINFREY!!!  AAAAAAHHHHH!!!   Okay, Okay, sorry, sorry, I just  had to let that out.  I'm cool  now.  I know you want to hear all about it, so  hear it goes.

Everyone was wonderful.  They really roll out the red  carpet  for their guests - the limo, fancy shmancy hotel, expensive meals  in the  beautiful hotel restaurant.  It was great.  The schedule  was jam packed though.   We got to the hotel about 6:30 Thursday  night.  After dinner, it was right to  bed since the limo was  to pick us up at 7:00 the next morning.  When we arrived  at the  studio Friday morning, they confiscated our cameras and cell phones  at  the door, searched our bags and waved the metal detector wands  over us...the  full security check.  Then they escorted us back  to the Green Room where they  had continental breakfast fare, a  lounging area, restroom, television.

The make-up and  hair artists were waiting for us back there.  They told  us to  come ready...hair and make-up already done.  So we did (no, Phil  doesn't  wear make-up!).  The make-up gal just did the expected,  a little powder on Phil,  lipstick on me.  I thought the hair  lady would just add a little hairspray, tuck  in some stray hairs,  that kind of thing.  Nope.  Pulling out the brush and  hairdryer  she said, "You're hair...it's just way too big!"  Then she inquired,  "Where are you from?"  When I said Kansas City, she responded  with sincere  innocence, "Does everyone in Kansas City have BIG  hair?" and proceeded to make  me look like everyone else.  Needless  to say, I have a sleek new do which I  really like.  A lot easier,  and classy if I do say so myself.  Phil, on the  other hand...she  didn't even touch him!  You know Phil - perfect hair!  I keep  telling him to quit gloating!  :)

The show's theme was  "Miracles" and 8  guests (including us) were brought in.  We were  the only direct miracle story,  so they brought me in last.  That  meant I got to watch the entire show from  backstage with the stagehands.   That was fun.  Phil watched the show from the  2nd row of the  guest audience seats.  For our segment, they used a shortened  version  of the Discovery Health Networks story with Oprah narrating it.   Once  they got through the accident scene, hospital, toe wiggle,  rehab, first step,  and walking into Dr. Coufal's office (whew!  that covered a lot of time and  effort in 2 minutes), Oprah introduced  me!  It was very emotional.  I cried, she  cried, the audience  cried and stood to their feet applauding for a long time.   The  cool thing was when Oprah asked me what I thought about it all,  and I said,  "God is good!", the audience resounded in agreement.   I was very impressed with  Oprah's character.  Although I can't  quote her in writing, she was warm,  receptive, and treated all  of us with the utmost respect and love.  She held on  to me almost  the entire segment.  Unfortunately, Phil did not get on stage and  was sitting behind a very tall gentleman.  Oprah didn't even  have a chance to  ask him anything.  However the camera did pick  him up several times, and he  looked awesome!!  I was so proud!!   :)

The other guests were awesome  stories of how God  had answered their prayers through medical technology and new  advances.   A new contact lens for severe astigmatism, an ear device to stop  stuttering, a prosthetic ear restoring a woman's appearance, and  an in vitro  fertilization that assisted in natural conception  resulting in quadruplet birth  were the stories presented.  These  people had suffered in different ways.   God  had used these  methods to turn their lives around.  Most were Christian folks  and gave God the credit for working in their lives.  We made  a lot of new  friends and pray our paths will cross again under  Heaven.  In some cases, we may  have new contacts to take us and  God's story to new parts of the country.

As for Oprah,  we didn't get any pictures of her or with her; none were  allowed.    We didn't even get to talk to or see her off-stage.  She thanked  the  audience after the show for coming out in the cold (it was  3 degrees), had some  funny things to say about her dogs, and dismissed  everyone after explaining she  taped 7 shows the day before and  was exhausted.  A little disappointing, but  overall, a neat experience.   Many of you have also wondered if they pay their  guests.  Nope!!   Once she left the studio, they dismissed the audience and  guests,  gave us a mug, and the limo took us back to the hotel where we ate  lunch  with some of the other guests before catching a plane home.   For such a  wonderful publicity opportunity, paying for the elaborate  accommodations and  travel expenses was enough.

I have  to say that all the excitement about  walking out on-stage with  Oprah got me thinking about how much more exciting it  will be  to meet my Lord and Savior face-to-face.  She is a well-respected,  neat  famous lady with a pretty cool job, but Jesus....well, there  isn't even a  comparison.  I cry just thinking about finally wrapping  my arms around the one  who is not just responsible for healing  my body, but my soul.  He loved me  enough to suffer death and  the grave in a way that he didn't deserve...but I  do.  And He  did it so I wouldn't have to.  Now that is AWESOME!!!

You  know, our prayer was that God would get the glory through this  opportunity.  We  asked for your prayers about this and so far,  we have been pleased.  Thank you  so much for your prayers, and  keep praying!!  The show will air on MONDAY, FEB.  3rd ON ABC.   So please be in prayer this week that God will shine through loud  and clear!!
