Here are some pictures that show how places looked at one time and how they look now.
Here is Luella (Aude) Ehle and her brother Ernest Aude in front of the school in Gladstone, NE, in Jefferson County. They did not attend this school. I think the plaque on the front reads--Public School / District No. 71 / 1894 with a decorative design on the bottom.
This is how the Gladstone school looked on December 19, 2001.
Here is the homestead(? I am pretty sure of that) of John and Emillie Krause. It is located north of Gladstone.
This is the Krause house in October of 1998. As of December, 2001, it was still standing, but I expect it will be torn down in the near future.
Unfortunately, I do not have a "before" picture; this is the site of John and Wilhelmine Aude's house as it appeared December 19, 2001. The yellow arrow is pointing to a patch of weeds which indicates the location of their water pump. This is also located in Gladstone.
