Recent News about Dewey Fire Co. No. 1

10/7/2001 - Four County Fire Association Fireman's Parade - Whitehall, PA

The Dewey Fire Company and EMS participated in the annual Four County Fireman's Association Fireman's Parade which was hosted by the Cementen Fire Co., which is located in Whitehall Township. Dewey Fire Company was successful this year to take First place in the Light Rescue Category with Rescue 13-41. Dewey EMS was also successful in defending their postion as Best Functional Ambulance. Congratulation and thanks to all of those who helped in preparing the equipment for the parade. Engine 13-11 also participated in the parade, but was not judged.

2/9/2001 - Dewey Fire Company

Dewey Fire Company has recently taken the possession of 20 new Scott Health and Safety Self Contained Breathing Apparatus setups. These new Scott Packs are from the Air Fifty Series. 18 of the packs are of the 2.2 version type (2216 psi) and are rated for 30 minutes a piece. The other 2 are of the 4.5 version type (4500psi) and are rated each at 1 hour. These packs are scheduled to begin being used on or about March 3, 2001. The new air packs are lighter in weight than the previous 2.2 types currently used and will help reduce back strain on the firefighters. The weight is decreased do to the use of Kevlar wrapped cylinders and by the use of lightweight, but stronger aluminum frames. Also a part of both packs is an integrated Personal Safety Device, which would help aid other firefighters to find a firefighter who has gone down at a fire scene. The total weight of a 2.2 version Air 50 Pack is approximately 30 pounds. Also included in the package were new voice emitters units, to help aid in the communications at a fire scene.

At the company meeting held on October 31, elections were held for the officer's of the company for the 2001 year.

10/7/2000 - Four County Fireman's Parade - N. Cattasaqua, PA

Dewey Fire Company and the Dewey Ambulance squad participated in the Four County Fireman's Association's Annual parade. This year's parade was held by the North Cattasaqua Fire Department in North Cattasaqua. Dewey Fire Company placed 2nd in the Light Rescue Catagory. Dewey EMS took 1st place for Best Ambulance (both ALS and BLS) and the Company as a whole took 1st place for Best Marching Fire Company less that 30 members without a band. Congratulations to all those who marched and helped clean the units for the parade. Engine 13-11 also traveled to the parade, but was not judged.
