Temptation
Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls
around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. But resist him,
firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are
being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world.
(1 Peter 5:8-9)
Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God
cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not temp anyone. But each
one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then
when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished,
it brings forth death.
(James 1:13-15)
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is
faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but
with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be
able to endure it.
(1 Corinthians 10:13)
As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were
yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy
yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, "You shall
be holy, for I am holy."
(1 Peter 1:14-16)
Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is
in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you
have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
(1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable.
All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.
(1 Corinthians 6:12)
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey
its lusts, and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as
instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive
from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
(Romans 6:12-13)
