Chapter 6

Stephanie sighed in her sleep as she pulled her arms closer to her, wanting to envelope herself in the warmth of the nightshirt that she wearing. It was so comfortable and cozy and it smelled so much like her favorite cologne.
Her eyes snapped open and she sat upright in bed. She was in Chris Benoits house, laying on one of his beds, wearing Chris Jerichos jersey, and only that.
She screamed and jumped a little, falling out of bed and right onto the floor, landing on her backside.

Chris ran into the room, with a frantic look in his eyes as he looked around, for the cause of the scream that brought him out of a very deep sleep.

Stephanie moaned from the floor as she slowly stood up and rubbed her backside. She then glared at him and attempted to pull the shirt down. When she caught sight of what he was wearing, she stopped her attempts and burst out laughing.

Chris brushed the sleep out of his eyes and ran a hand through his frizzy hair, glaring at the woman who woke him up. He was stuck in a house with her because Stone Cold decided to take things a little too far.

Whats so funny, Princess?

Stephanie held her stomach as she continued to laugh. It was starting to ache from the hysteria that was in her system. Those boxers.

Chris looked down at himself and realized that he was wearing white boxers with little chilly peppers on them that read hot on top of the little peppers. He had to laugh at that himself.

Jeff convinced me to buy these one day while we were at Walmart.

Walmart? Stephanie asked curiously. Ive never been there. I didnt know you guys shopped at Walmart.

Its a cool place. Chris shrugged. You can get tee shirts for like three bucks a piece and these boxers were on sale for two fifty. Not everyone gets their clothes delivered, Princess. He smirked.

Stephanie glared at him. My father raised me that way.

Chris looked at her with wide eyes. I was only kidding, damn, you are spoiled.

I am not spoiled. He looked at her with raised eyebrows. Not anymore anyway.

Chris sighed. Look, I dont know how long were going to be here and we dont have anymore clothes to last us so what Im going to do is drive us into town so we can do a little shopping. Is that ok with you?

Stephanie nodded. When do you think we can leave?

Getting cabin fever already?

I dont like being locked up with you. She said.

You got thirty minutes to be downstairs. Im making eggs for breakfast and if you dont like it, too damn bad. He turned around and walked out of the room, slamming the door behind him. Youre welcome for saving your life. He muttered to himself.

Stephanie walked quietly into the kitchen in her stocking feet, gripping the counter as she slid on the tile floor.

Chris turned around and saw her standing in front of him in the pants that she wore last night, the pants that were his, and a tight white tee shirt with little white socks. Her hair was dry and straight. She actually left him speechless.

Cat got your tongue. She said quietly as she plopped down in a chair.

Ive never seen you look like a woman before. Chris said. Usually you look like a five dollar hoe.

She shrugged that comment off, knowing that they would have to live together for a certain period of time. Maybe if she were nice to him, he would be nice to her.

I didnt want to go out looking like me. She said. I figured the idea was to not be recognized so I straightened my hair and put on your pants. I just hope you have a jacket because the leather one I have wont go with this outfit.

Hmm, I was going to let you freeze. He said laying a plate of eggs down in front of her.

She threw her napkin down on the table and stood up, glaring at his back.
I am trying to

Enjoy breakfast. Chris said, turning around with a beautiful smile that caught her off guard. Im not the best cook but I hope you like it. We can both check out the closet to see what Benoit has in the way of coats.

He sat down in front of her with his plate and started to eat. She stared at him for a few more seconds before seating herself again.

Thanks for breakfast. She mumbled.

Chris kept his eyes on the plate. Your welcome.

Chris was having a hard time not smiling in Walmart as Stephanie pushed the cart around with a big smile on her face. So far they had hit the mens section in which he picked up a few pair of jeans and a couple of plain tee shirts. Now they were in ladies and he couldnt seem to pull her away. She couldnt get over the low prices and nice things they seemed to have.

Oohh, nightgowns! She said making a beeline for them.

He laughed as he followed her. Who knew that the billion-dollar princess would have this much fun shopping at Walmart? The aisle's of discounted clothes, books, and food was something that she had never experienced. And now it looked like he was going to see her look like a real woman instead of a filthy, dirty, disgusting, skanky, brutal, bottom feeding, trash bag ho.

What do you think? Stephanie smiled as she held up a spaghetti strap nightgown that was a maroon color and was made with a rose imprint. It would come down to about mid thigh if she were to wear it.

Chris was speechless. In his mind he could see her in that outfit. He could also see her out of that outfit. Shit.

What?

He shook his head. Nothing. Steph, its cold here. You need warm pajamas. Really warm. He walked over to a rack that held long fuzzy pajamas with little moons and stars on them. Like these? He smiled pulling them out and frowned when he noticed that the top to the outfit was nothing but a small tank top that was low cut and very tiny. Damn.

I like this. She smiled as she put it in the cart. And this. She said grabbing a leopard print one.

That reminds me of Jeff. Chris said. He would just think of Jeff if he saw her in that thing. There, that makes it better.

I guess I should pick up some bras too while Im here. She said thoughtfully as she moved into that section.

Im gonna go find a book. Chris said. Yeah. He ran his hands through his hair as he walked away from her. This trip to Walmart was turning out to be a bad idea.

How did you get this number?

Benoit. Matt said. How are you holding up?

Not too well. Chris said. You shouldnt be talking to me.

Were on a payphone a few blocks away from the hotel. Matt said.

We? Chris said as he ran his fingers through his hair. He was doing that a lot lately.

Jeff and Lita are here too. Matt said. We decided that we want to see you.

Im deciding against that. Chris said. Its not safe.

They dont suspect us. They did at first since we werent out in the ring kicking their asses but they just assumed we had left early that night. Matt said. They searched long and hard but they pretty much gave up, expecting you two to be at Raw.

We wont be there.

I didnt think you would. Matt said. Just give us directions and well be there later tonight.

No. Chris said. Its not a good idea.

Whats not a good idea? Stephanie asked coming in from the kitchen. Her face paled a little. Who are you on the phone with?

Hang on. Chris said, putting the mouthpiece against a pillow and walking to her. Its just Matt. Are you ok?

Oh. She said and shook her head. I thought it couldve beensomeone else.

Im on a payphone! Chris heard muffled.

They want to come here. Chris said.

Is it safe to tell them directions?

I dont know if its safe to bring them here. Chris said. They said they arent after them but still

Let them. Stephanie said. Itll ease the tension and Im sure theyre worried about you. Besides five heads are better than two. Maybe we can all think of a way out of this situation.

Six.

What?

Six heads. Chris said. Trish would come as well He trailed off knowing that wasnt a good idea considering the history between Trish and Stephanie.

Matt.

You owe me an extra quarter that I had to put in the machine. Matt grumbled.

Chris laughed. Got a pen.

Hey. Lita smiled as she grabbed the phone from her boyfriend. I do. Shoot.

Stephanie sat down with her hands around her cup of coffee while Chris gave Lita directions to where they were. She hated the fact that she was so dependent on him and now she would be dependent on his friends to help her out of the situation that she didnt really want to get into. She did all this to make him pay for what he did to her and it blew up in her face. She was such a bitch to him and he in turn rescued her.
She looked over at him with her dark eyes wondering why he was so nice. Was it really because he was repaying her for what she did or was it something more?

One more thing. Chris said. Tell Jeff Im sorry but I dont think bringing Trish is a good idea.

She can come. Stephanie said.

What? Chris asked.

She can come. Stephanie repeated. Six heads are better than two.

Are you sure? Chris asked.

Positive. Stephanie said putting on a smile. She then stood up and headed back into the kitchen with her coffee.

Is she serious? Lita asked.

Yeah. Chris said.

Did you hypnotize her or something?

No. Chris said, his eyes on the kitchen doorway. Youre going to be surprised. Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley isnt turning out to be the way she really seems.
