Below is a memo that is my final reflection on 5 papers that I feel relate to my and the new business skills I have learned to help me in the future, either with a job or just knowing more about my self.
We had a few guests come into the class to help us with certain parts of out class. One of the most remembered guest above the one lady who thought we needed a lesson in how to dress, was a man named Brian Porter. He was an assistant to help us set up a mock interview situation in the class room. Besides this he was also ashley�s older bro. I have been to a couple of job interviews before and this experience in class was actually just about the same. I felt nervous going up to talk to him and was figuring out a way to make my self look better then all the other competition. Just like as if it was an actual interview. I don�t think that you could possibly have enough practice for an interview and I believe it really helped me out.
A really fun assignment that I really enjoyed was one called true colors. In this assignment we went to a we page where we answered a couple of questions and within minutes bam� we had a color telling a lot of characteristics about your self. Mine ended up being yellow. Yellow meant that I was emotionally stable and organized. Everyone in the class had kick about finding out what color they were and helped everyone find out a little more about them selves. To me I knew my qualities but this test just proved me right and help me find out who else out there was my color and who I could better get to know, having more in common.
Another more recent assignment was called goals in life. This one really got me to think. When asked for a goal off the top of your head you can think of a couple�piece of cake. Now try to think about 3 goals for 7 categories that is a little bit more challenging. It made me realize that my goals need to be more spread out and not all about the distant future. But more current and distant, some being important and some being just good for my health. After this was over with I left the classroom thinking on how I was going to try and finish of my next goals I had planned out for my self. This assignment gave me organization and the ability to plan out the day or even the year.
The job shadow, what can I say but I hate doing them. But wow what an experience I had. In my jab shadow I was able to tag along with a neighbor to go see his job in a lab using molecular technology. There were so many crazy looking tools and so much expensive equipment there I was amazed by just looking at it all. After the explanation of what they all actually did I was even more astonished by how far technology has gone. I worked at Krispy Kremes for close to a year and I was in a sugary doughnut hell making crap money�now I could see my self behind one of these sweet machines helping people with there problems testing there DNA and other specimens to help them with what ever they need to know about there bodies. out to be a lot of fun and it made me realize I need to get on the ball about getting me a future and a job.
At the end of my portfolio you can find my performance report that pretty much summed up me through the first semester. I thought that it was a nice touch and a little proof of the change that has taken effect in this VE class. I know this wouldn�t normally come out of me but this class is fun and Mr. P rocks�wanted to say keep doing what your doing because this class is actually one that I am learning in and I know many students in the future will appreciate this class with such a chill teacher
