Where did the Moon come from? There are a few theories as to the origin of the Moon and we will look at each of them and see how plauseable they are. 1)There are those that think it was a collision between Earth and a astroid. Here is a few links that explain the possibilty of that happening.

| If there was just one moon in our solar system this explenation could be right but the same collision happening to almost every planet is very, very unlikely. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Click here to see a table of all the Moons rotations around their own planets and note that all but 3 of the known ones orbit rotation is the same as their sidereal rotation. Coincidence?

There are about 68 moons in our system and all the known moons behave like our moon (it's same face towards it's planet ) That initself rules the collision theory out totaly.

2) The next theory is that the moon is a rock that came from space and attached itself in a orbit around Earth. What are the chances of a rock comming from outer space that is already rotating at a speed that will match the rotation of the earth and to it's orbital speed around earth so that it's same side will always show towards earth. No chance at all. Not even to mention all the other moons in our system doing the same.
