Muse - Absolution
Muse are not an ordinary band, they have been seen as a Radiohead clone, which I don't think they are. While both Thom Yorke and Matt Bellamy must either be musical geniuses or complete maniacs, they do write very different songs. It becomes even more apparent with Absolution, Muse's third major studio album. The theme of this album seems to be the end of the world, namely, Apocalypse Please.. , Time is Running Out, etc. Bellamy has been doing a lot of reading, and while Origin of Symmetry was seen as insane, Absolution is a lot tamer, while a lot more weird. Their talent really shines in some of these songs, there's definitely a feeling that Muse don't really care whether they get good record sales, they just wanted to have some fucking fun.

Recommended by Chris - Apocalypse Please, Stockholm Syndrome, Blackout and Butterflies and Hurricanes
Disclaimer: Unlike many critics, this is not what you think of the album, this is what I think of the album, and you may disagree partly with what I say. This is just my opinion, don't shit a kitten if I say something you don't like or understand. -Chris
Nickelback - The Long Road
Yes, that's right. Nickelback..  you remember! "How You Remind Me" was never off the bloody radio in it's reign of terror. As a little rule, I try not to judge an album on it's predecessors, so I won't use Silver Side Up to beat this album to death.
This album is good, it's definitely listenable, maybe a tad too squeaky clean in the production department, but if you're like me, you'll enjoy it. There's some really surprising songs from Nickelback. The first track rips out at break neck speed from start to finish, Flat On The Floor. There are lots of hooks on the album, it's definitely been crafted to be radio-friendly, but Nickelback are still progressing, and it's a worthy follow up. Over-produced, but still very enjoyable as an average album.

Recommended by Chris - Flat On The Floor, Someday, Figured You Out and Saturday Night's Alright (Excellent AC/DC style riff! Shame it's Japan Import only)
Bon Jovi - This Left Feels Right
I know some people think Bon Jovi are crap just because they're from the eighties or something, but I think they're great and for any fan or newcomer this is ideal. It is not a new Bon Jovi album, please don't think that. It is a compliation of Bon Jovi songs, but unplugged. That's right. Acoustic versions of these classics. If you thought Livin' On A Prayer was cheesy, well, listen to this version, it sure as hell isn't cheesy. They're a lot more meaningful in this more pure form, and are great to listen to. If you like Bon Jovi, you'll love this. If you don't really like Bon Jovi, then I'd try it out, but not raise your hopes. I recommend it, if it counts.

Ben Folds - Rockin' The Suburbs
A lot of people in my school have no idea who Ben Folds, there are some who do, but the majority don't, and if I told them they'd probably think lowly of him, very few like the idea of piano rock.
I like pretty much anything, so I never saw piano rock as a bad thing, in fact, I think it's an amazing thing. Let's take a trip down memory lane, Ben Folds Five were formed in the late eighties, early nineties, they had the same basic structure of a punk/rock band, bass, drums, vocals, but one thing made them stand out from the crowd. Piano! Their first album; Ben Folds Five, was highly praised, and was very good. Anyway, ten years later, they split up, it was a very tragic thing, to be honest. Then Ben Folds announced he was pursuing a solo career, and this was seen with skepticism, but here we are and it's pretty much one of my favourite albums. Without his band, some thought Folds wouldn't be able to stand up well, but as it seems, he did the majority of the song writing, so his craft hasn't been affected at all. It's been improved on. Not one song on this album is weak, except perhaps the title track, ironically. While it's still a good song, it doesn't fit in with the rest of the songs on the album, this album holds some of the greatest songs on my playlist, such as the truly heart breaking The Luckiest, Folds' first love song, the eery Not The Same, the fast Zak and Sara, the very honest song about his son, Still Fighting It, and of course the brilliant Fired.
Recommended songs? ALL OF THEM! Look out for Fired, Not The Same, The Luckiest, Still Fighting It, and The Ascent Of Stan especially.
