Today
Ameriwreck came and straightened out the wiring for my phone.
AND I received a letter from Ameriwreck's "Collections Specialty
Center".
Did they time it so I'd get the letter the same day I got my phone
back?
I highly doubt it but to quote the letter, "I have been unable to reach
you
by telephone." Gee... If their inter-office communication is this good
it
is no wonder it took them 3 tries and 11 days before I got phone
service
again... I'll be calling the "Executive Resolutions Specialist"
tomorrow!
and ask her why she didn't leave a message? It was the only way my
phone # worked... Did she think I wouldn't return her phone call
because
she worked for Ameriwreck. I wouldn't blame her...
Another S.N.A.F.U. with changing apartments is cable television... I took an afternoon off from work to meet the cable guy. Obviously, something went wrong. When I checked my messages a half an hour before the window of time they gave me for the install was up, I heard, "Please call 736-1800 to reschedule your installation." I of course blew it off. If they want my business, they'll call and try to sell me their services again... I've turned on my TV less that a dozen times in the last two months and watched network TV shows. So I figure I can do without cable. To top it off I get a bill for $250 for the cable box! When and if they ever call, I'll tell them to come and get it. I will be home from from 6 PM - 9 PM in two weeks... I wonder if they will get the picture... Other than that, the new place is fantastic! I love it. It's wonderful. The cats warmed up to the place in a couple of hours and I have a fire going in the fireplace now. I haven't had to scrape my windshield on the car because it's in a garage! And I almost have a place for everything and everything is almost in it's place. The best thing of all is something I hadn't realized when I rented this place and discovered the first morning I woke up here. The sun woke me up and it was shining in my eyes through another incredible view of the Chicago skyline. So, my daze start with looking at the Sears Tower and all the other skyscrapers a few miles away. Granted, the industrial corridor between here and there remind me of the rough edge around this city. I've been busy enough to not really miss my phone other than my addiction to the internet and my other e-mails. The web pages I maintain are getting stale so I better do some updating now that I can again. Work is going well. I'm getting training on the new software we'll be implementing to process the display ads in the paper. The other projects I'm involved with are quite the challenge as well. The next month and a half are going to bring some major changes to the Chicago Tribune and I'll be part of the huge group of techno-weenie- geeks making sure the systems do what they are suppose to do. It's kinda cool... When I'm not at work or thinking about work there's Corn Productions and the things going on at the Cornservatory. We just had the anual "Golden Cobbie Awards". (I didn't win one this year) and the week before that I put together a concert with two of my friends at the theatre. Both events were on Sunday nights and turned into late nights for me. I'll be burning CD's and running the lights for the upcoming children's show which opens on March 3. Oh, the next Corn board meeting is going to be here at my new apartment. It's shaping up like my first visitors to the new place unless I decide to cook dinner for some friends. I've recently gotten the e-mail addresses of 4 out of 6 of my long lost first cousins on the Maus side of the family and wonder if Terry even has an e-mail address? I'm sure Carol has an e-mail address so WHAT IS IT? I think a Maus family e-mail list would be a good thing. ... I also wonder about the other side of my family with my lone e-mail address of my only living Uncle... I'm willing to bet his kids (my cousins) have e-mail too. |
