Chris Maus  [RAMBLE INDEX]

My Web Archive

It's time once again for me to do some reflecting on this web site, my music, computers and life in general... Even though this page won't be posted until 04/02/00, the currency of this crap is totally irrelevent.

I think I've settled in on what www.chrismaus.com is going to be all about for the moment. The thing is, I realize so few people visit that I have to be apathetic about the "hit count" and just keep on doing what I enjoy... The CGI programming I've done in the past month or so is something I am proud of even though I know it's not all that great. I just like having written my own CHAT and MESSAGE pages.

I'm in an archive mode when it comes to my music. It sorta sux being blocked and uninspired. My new toy, a digital home recording studio, has me re-recording a very old tape and laughing at the progress and stagnation that come through. The tape was made back in 1986 or 1987 (I'm not sure...). It was a collection of all the songs that I had written up to that point in my life. There are a lot of the songs that have been included and revamped on my first two CD's. There are a few songs that I'd like to forget I wrote and recorded but then I don't care anymore. Yeah, I know I can write a shitty song and the proof is on this tape. Once I get the CD burner working I'll make it available through a special order form on this web site. (You'll have to send me money to put a blank in the burner and make one for you)

The computer world and technology in general are making me crazy with all the variation/deviation/changes/developments and CRAP that is "suppose" to make our lives easier. My decision to get into the digital recording world had the requirement that it NOT involve a PC! or a Mac or a UNIX "computer". Even though the system I bought has some sort of computer chip in it I don't have to worry about the problems associated with the before mentioned systems. The more I get into computers at work the less I want to deal with them at home. The one problem I am having with this system is going to be easy to fix because of the dedication to it's function and simplicity in how it does it. I need a part that is hard to find...

"Life in general" boils down to being a personal note here at the end. LIFE IS GOOD! I decided I had to go 6 month without alcohol and restart my morning swim. I'm over half way through my period of abstinence (beer) and I hope to be back to my old form of 2 years ago with my dates with a lane sometime soon. The apartment is definitely too small at the moment and we need to do something to make some more room... (the drum kit is already in the store room)
