It's about time for another long boring e-mail... If that doesn't make you hit the delete button in your mail reader, I don't know what will.

August 2, 1999 seems like a long time ago... I'm beginning to get a little discouraged with my second / sideline career in music. If I look at it as a "business" then I'm definitely loosing money. It's a good thing I have the day job I do. One of my goals is to always have a gig scheduled in the future. And at the moment I'm meeting that goal. I'll be playing at a benefit for Corn Productions this evening but my next gig isn't until October 21, 1999. The thing that is discouraging is the fact that nobody comes to listen. There's always at least some people there but... I feel like background noise most of the time.

So, for the next month or more, I'll work on my next CD. I planned on doing this CD even before I finished the last one. The music is recorded and in the process of being digitally mastered now. I recorded it at home and didn't do it in a professional studio like Alison wanted me to do. When I say I'm going to work on this CD I mean I'm going to think about what I'm going to do with the master CD Dan is making for me. I still have about 900 left from my last spurt of vanity so I may only make enough copies to give away for Christmas presents this year. I do plan on packaging it the right way this time with a jewel case and a bunch of crap on the insert... That's the other thing I will be working on... writing the liner notes and getting some pictures.

I'll digress now...

I went to Orlando, Florida for two days on business this week. When I got back I played at Phyllis' Musical Inn again. Then after Phyllis' Thursday night I went out for breakfast and went into work. (I did an ALL NITER...) The management at the Tribune is requiring that a technical person be there at 4AM in case there are any problems. I trade the resposibility with a co-worker and this Friday AM was my turn. I slept all day Friday and have just about re adjusted my body clock to get back to normal now. I know I'm getting old because all niters aren't as easy to deal with as they used to be.

Other than that... I look forward to my sister Mary's trip here to Chicago to run the marathon at the end of October.

Until next time...
