My Web Archive

It's been a long time since I wrote one of these... So I figure I better fill you in on whatever the latest is. The problem for me is where to begin. So, I'll work backwards from today.

It was a pretty basic Monday with one exception. Alison's son Jordan is with for the month. He started a day camp offered by the Chicago Park District. I haven't had a chance to talk to him about it yet. He's been playing with the neighbor kids since I got home from work this evening.

We finally got a break from the HEAT wave where they declared heat emergencies for several days in a row. We survived the 100 degrees with 100% humidity. (At least that's what it felt like.) I gave up riding my bicycle to work because of the heat.

Alison starts her new job tomorrow. She left Sam Ash because the change in management made the store a very unpleasant place to work. She'll be a part-time cashier for a liquor store down the street. Her commute will be less than mine now. The tricky part is going to be coordinating schedules so at least one of us is at home while Jordan is here.

My music thang is going really well and I'm having a blast playing out at some of the clubs here in Chicago. I've been documenting my progress on my web page. I'm excited! I have 3 gigs over the next 3 weeks. I'll be playing at Thurston's the day after tomorrow, then on 8/16 Alison and I will both be playing at the Gallery Cabaret. A few days after that 8/19 I will be playing Hopcats / Top Cat Lounge. You can see the flyers I made on my web site. I really like the way the one for the Gallery turned out.

I've been keeping my "Past Gigs" page up to date so I'll summarize things as succinctly as possible here. After my stint at "The Big Horse" I got 3 gigs at "Phyllis' Musical Inn" and was asked to play at the "Genral Fest" while sitting in the crowd enjoying the music.

Anyway, I'm thinking September or October to record my next CD. I happen to live a block away from one of the better recording studios in Chicago. Alison and I walked over there one afternoon to check it out. All I gotta do is set the money aside to reserve the time... You'll be hearing about it before it happens.

Until next time...
